Overview
The Applied Sciences Group (ASG) is looking for a generalist Senior Software Engineer - Native to help us build Project Solara andcreate innovative features across Windows and other Microsoft products. We are looking for a highly experienced native-code individual contributor who spend the majority of their time coding, ranging from OS and platform layers to app experiences and service integrations.
ASG is a unique, nimble, multidisciplinary team that turns cutting-edge ideas into shipping products by composing research, incubation, rapid prototyping, and human-centered development. As part of ASG, you'll directly shape experiences used by billions of people - from Windows (running on over a billion devices) to Microsoft 365 (used by 70% of Fortune 500 enterprises) and beyond.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualification:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years developing and debugging production-level native/compiled code.
  • 4+ years end-to-end project development experience.
  • Experience in designing and implementing User Experiences for Windows and/or Android Apps.
  • Experience coding in modern programming languages such as C++, Kotlin or Rust, with a strong understanding of system-level or mobile application development.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
