What is a solar lead?

Solar leads are potential customers or clients who have expressed interest in solar energy products or services, such as solar panel installations for their homes or businesses. These leads may come from various sources like online inquiries, referrals, marketing campaigns, or door-to-door outreach. The goal of generating solar leads is to identify and engage people or organizations who are likely to purchase solar solutions, helping companies grow their customer base. Companies often nurture these leads through follow-up communication, providing information, and addressing questions to convert them into sales.

How does a solar lead typically collaborate with installation teams and project managers during a solar project?

A Solar Lead plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between installation teams and project managers. They coordinate schedules, communicate technical requirements, and ensure that the team follows best practices for safety and quality. Solar Leads often provide on-site guidance, oversee the progress of installations, and promptly address any challenges that arise. This collaborative approach helps maintain project timelines, ensures compliance with regulations, and supports successful project completion.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a solar lead, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Solar Lead, you need a solid understanding of photovoltaic systems, electrical theory, and construction practices, usually supported by experience in solar installation and relevant certifications like NABCEP. Familiarity with solar design software, electrical testing tools, and project management systems is commonly required. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills help manage teams and ensure project timelines are met. These skills and qualifications are crucial for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality solar projects in a competitive and evolving industry.

Both roles are essential in the solar industry but serve different functions within the project lifecycle.

Job description

NOW HIRING: SOLAR LEAD GENERATOR

Earn $80,000–$100,000+ Per Year
Los Angeles / Southern California | 1099 Independent Contractor
Commission Only | $1,000 Per Completed Installation | Uncapped Earnings

TURN CONVERSATIONS INTO COMMISSIONS.

Are you good at talking to people, generating interest, and getting appointments on the calendar?

US Power Solar is looking for motivated Solar Lead Generators to connect with homeowners and create qualified opportunities for our Solar Consultants.

You do NOT need to close the sale.

Your job is simple:

Talk to homeowners. Generate interest. Set qualified solar appointments.

Our experienced Solar Consultants take it from there—handling the consultation, system design, financing options, proposal, contracts, and closing.

When an appointment you generate becomes a completed solar installation, you earn $1,000.

You create the opportunity. We close the deal. You get paid.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Your primary focus is generating qualified homeowner appointments.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Connecting with homeowners and starting conversations
  • Creating interest in solar and home energy solutions
  • Asking basic qualifying questions
  • Identifying potential solar customers
  • Scheduling qualified appointments with our Solar Consultants
  • Generating new leads and referrals
  • Following up with interested prospects
  • Accurately entering appointments into company systems
  • Following company qualification guidelines
  • Representing US Power Solar professionally

If you know how to start a conversation and turn interest into an appointment, this role is built for you.

YOU SET THE APPOINTMENT. WE HANDLE THE REST.

Once you've generated a qualified appointment, our Solar Consultants handle:

  • In-home or virtual solar consultations
  • System design
  • Solar proposals
  • Financing options
  • Product recommendations
  • Contract presentations
  • Closing the sale

Our operations team then manages the project through the installation process.

You do NOT have to:

  • Design solar systems
  • Build complicated proposals
  • Master every financing option
  • Negotiate contracts
  • Manage installations
  • Close the sale yourself

Your focus stays where it should be: generating the next opportunity.

EARN $1,000 PER COMPLETED INSTALLATION

Every qualified appointment you generate that results in a completed solar installation earns you:

$1,000 COMMISSION

5 completed installations = $5,000
10 completed installations = $10,000
20 completed installations = $20,000

There is no cap on your commissions.

The more qualified opportunities you generate that turn into completed installations, the more you can earn.

Potential Annual Earnings: $80,000–$100,000+

Compensation is performance-based, and earnings are not guaranteed.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You don't need to be a solar expert.

We're looking for people who are:

  • Outgoing and confident
  • Comfortable approaching and speaking with homeowners
  • Good at starting conversations
  • Comfortable asking for the appointment
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented
  • Competitive and driven by results
  • Coachable and willing to improve
  • Consistent and dependable
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Motivated by commission-based income
  • Interested in growing a career in sales

Previous solar experience is NOT required.

If you can communicate confidently, connect with people, and consistently generate appointments, we can teach you the solar side.

SALES OR LEAD GENERATION EXPERIENCE? EVEN BETTER.

You may be a strong fit if you have experience in:

  • Appointment setting
  • Lead generation
  • Door-to-door sales
  • Canvassing
  • Solar sales
  • Roofing or home improvement
  • Pest control
  • Telecommunications
  • Security systems
  • Real estate
  • Insurance
  • Automotive sales
  • Retail or customer service
  • Hospitality
  • Brand ambassador or event marketing

If you've ever been responsible for generating leads, booking appointments, starting sales conversations, or getting customers interested, your skills can translate well to this opportunity.

NEW TO SOLAR? WE'LL HELP YOU LEARN.

US Power Solar provides:

  • Professional onboarding
  • Solar industry training
  • Appointment-setting strategies
  • Sales scripts and talking points
  • Qualification training
  • Objection-handling techniques
  • Field training
  • Ongoing coaching
  • Mentorship from experienced solar professionals

We'll teach you what makes a qualified solar opportunity and how to confidently move homeowner conversations toward an appointment.

Bring the drive. We'll help you build the solar knowledge.

FLEXIBLE 1099 SALES OPPORTUNITY

As a 1099 Independent Contractor, you'll have flexibility in how you structure your work and generate opportunities.

This opportunity can be a strong fit for:

  • Appointment setters
  • Lead generators
  • Door-to-door representatives
  • Canvassers
  • Independent sales professionals
  • Experienced solar representatives
  • People transitioning into solar
  • Ambitious individuals seeking performance-based income

If you'd rather have your earning potential tied to your results than an hourly wage, this role gives you room to perform.

GROW INTO A SOLAR SALES CAREER

Appointment setting doesn't have to be the finish line.

High-performing representatives who want to expand their skills may have opportunities to advance toward becoming a Solar Consultant, developing skills in consultations, proposals, financing, solar solutions, and closing.

For motivated representatives, this can be an entry point into a long-term, high-income career in solar sales.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Smartphone with internet access
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional appearance and attitude
  • Comfortable approaching and speaking with homeowners
  • Comfortable asking prospects to schedule appointments
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn and be coached

COMPENSATION

1099 Independent Contractor | Commission Only

  • $1,000 per qualified appointment that results in a completed solar installation
  • Uncapped commission potential
  • $80,000–$100,000+ annual earning potential
  • Referral opportunities
  • Advancement opportunities
  • Flexible independent schedule

Compensation is performance-based. Commissions are paid according to company qualification requirements and payment policies. Earnings are not guaranteed and depend on individual production and completed installations.

WHY US POWER SOLAR?

Because you shouldn't have to handle every part of a solar sale just to succeed in the industry.

You generate the opportunity.
Our Solar Consultants handle the consultation and close.
Our operations team moves the project forward.
You earn when your qualified appointments become completed installations.

That means you can spend your time doing what this role is actually about:

FINDING HOMEOWNERS. STARTING CONVERSATIONS. SETTING APPOINTMENTS.

READY TO TURN YOUR PEOPLE SKILLS INTO INCOME?

If you're confident talking to homeowners, motivated by performance-based income, and know how to turn a conversation into an appointment, we want to hear from you.

Apply today for an immediate opportunity with US Power Solar.

No solar experience is required. Bring the communication skills, consistency, and motivation—we'll help you learn the industry.
