The Position:

The Solar Design Technician will work with a project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting electrical and site improvement plans according to budget constraints, design factors and client requirements.

Payne & Dolan is seeking a self-motivated, results-oriented, problem-solver who has a desire to be part of our growing engineering design group. Responsibilities to include:

  • Create and modify electrical and site improvement drawings using AutoCAD

  • Enforce project-specific drafting standards

  • Support construction administration tasks from concept to commissioning phase

  • Perform site reviews and construction site visits

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be a reliable, efficient self-starter with initiative and a sense of responsibility

  • Work effectively in a team environment

  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree in engineering technology or Renewable Energy Systems

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD

  • Functional understanding of electrical components such as PV modules, inverters, transformers, surge arresters, and circuit breakers.

  • Knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, and procedures

  • Familiarity with electrical engineering standards / codes including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC, UL & NESC

  • Ability to keep accurate and detailed records or notes
