Solar Advisors are professionals who help individuals and businesses assess, plan, and implement solar energy solutions. They provide guidance on the benefits of solar power, evaluate a property's suitability for solar installation, and explain costs, incentives, and financing options. Solar Advisors also assist with navigating the installation process and ensuring customers understand the long-term value and maintenance of solar systems. Their goal is to help clients make informed decisions about transitioning to clean, renewable energy.

Inside Technical Sales - Solar Service

Solar Alternatives

Re-posted 22 days ago

Job description

Solar Alternatives is hiring an Inside Technical Sales rep to work with existing solar homeowners and businesses who need service, upgrades, or system expansions. This is not cold-calling strangers — you'll be talking to people who already own solar and need help.

You'll diagnose what customers need over the phone, build quotes for service work, battery additions, EV charger installs, panel upgrades, and technology swaps, then hand off to our field team for execution. Think of it as part technical advisor, part sales closer.

The tech you'll work with: solar panels (Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla), battery backup systems (Tesla Powerwall, FranklinWH, EG4, Generac), EV chargers, SPAN smart panels, and monitoring platforms. Training is provided — but curiosity about how these systems work will set you apart.

Why Solar Alternatives?

We're a New Orleans-based solar company that's been in business for 15+ years. We install, service, and stand behind our work — and that reputation is why customers call us back. You'll work out of our Harahan, LA office with a small team that has direct access to leadership. Competitive base salary plus commission, real training, and the chance to grow into a career in clean energy.

Requirements

  • 1+ year in inside sales, customer service, or call center work (outbound experience is a plus)
  • Comfortable talking to customers on the phone and over email all day
  • Able to learn technical product details and explain them in plain language
  • Organized — you'll manage leads, follow-ups, and project data in our CRM (Salesforce & FieldPulse)
  • Persuasive but honest — we want customers to trust SA, not feel sold to
  • Reliable schedule and availability during business hours
  • Interest in solar, batteries, or clean energy tech (experience is a bonus, not required)

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary + uncapped commission
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Two weeks paid leave + 7 paid holidays
  • Product and sales training from day one
  • Professional tools: CRM, VOIP phone system, monitoring dashboards
  • In-office role — Harahan, LA
  • Work that actually matters — you're helping your community go solar
