The Chief Deputy Health - Health Officer serves as the Health Officer for Solano County, providing medical and public health leadership for one of the region's most diverse and rapidly growing communities. Reporting to the Director of Health and Social Services, this position oversees the Public Health and Medical service divisions within the Department and serves as the County's principal authority on matters affecting the health and safety of Solano residents.
As Health Officer, this role is charged with protecting, preserving, and promoting community health while fulfilling all duties required under the California Health and Safety Code, Title 17 of the California Code of Regulations, and related state and federal laws. The position directs and coordinates activities that prevent disease, promote wellness, and ensure equitable access to health resources across Solano County's cities and unincorporated areas.
As the County's public health voice, the Health Officer must be media-savvy, approachable, and community-minded-able to appear on camera, respond to press inquiries, and participate in public events with professionalism and warmth. This role requires both medical expertise and the interpersonal skill to connect with diverse audiences across Solano County.
