About the Employer
The Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE) is a unique public education agency. One of 58 counties in California, Contra Costa County serves the 11th largest public-school student population in the state, supporting approximately 169,394 students. Officially established in 1932, CCCOE has a long history of providing direct services to some of the county's most vulnerable students, including young people who are incarcerated, experiencing homelessness, in foster care, or who have severe physical or emotional challenges.
CCCOE also provides support services to schools and school districts throughout Contra Costa County, services that can be handled more effectively and economically on a regional basis rather than by each of the county's 286 schools or 18 school districts. These services range from budget approval and fiscal support to technology infrastructure and communications support. In addition, CCCOE provides high-level professional development opportunities for educators throughout the county.

Job Summary
There is a continuous need for qualified individuals to work as Substitute Teachers in the educational programs offered by the Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE).
The CCCOE has many programs we offer to a diverse group of students. Please take a close look at the job description below for a detailed overview of the many programs offered. Upon orientation you will be given the opportunity to select which sites you are most interested in substituting for. IT IS NOT MANDATORY TO BE A SUBSTITUTE FOR ALL PROGRAMS.

Comments and Other Information
Court Schools: Mt. McKinley School provides educational services to students across the county. The Martinez site is within Juvenile Hall in Martinez . Mt. McKinley School serves students who are either incarcerated or in some phase of the judicial process. Students come from the 18 school districts within Contra Costa County.
Community Schools: The Golden Gate Community School programs provide successful learning experiences for all students in an alternative education environment. The school's main purpose is to prepare the students to return to their home districts.
The Substitute Teacher in this position will work with both Middle and High School aged students.
The Contra Costa Adult School (CCAS) offers educational opportunities to incarcerated adults through a partnership between the Contra Costa County Office of Education and the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff. The Contra Costa County Office of Education operates Adult Education Programs at the West County Detention Facility in Richmond, CA, the Martinez Detention Facility in Martinez, CA and the Marsh Creek Detention Facility in Clayton, CA.
Special Education Programs are located at Diablo Vista (Antioch), Marchus School (Concord), Heritage High School (Brentwood), Krey Elementary School (Brentwood), Liberty High School (Brentwood), O'Hara Park Middle School (Oakley) and Turner Elementary School (Antioch).
