Job description

A venture-backed startup is looking for a Founding Full-Stack Software Engineer to join its early team and help build the core product from the ground up. The company is developing a next-generation software platform and is seeking an engineer who thrives in fast-paced startup environments and enjoys owning large technical challenges end-to-end.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with the founding team to shape the product, establish the technical foundation, and build scalable systems from day one.

About the Role

The Founding Full-Stack Software Engineer will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling the company’s platform. This individual will be responsible for developing features across the full stack, contributing to architectural decisions, and helping define engineering best practices as the team grows.

This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys working with significant ownership and influencing both product and technical direction in an early-stage company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop core product features across both frontend and backend systems.

  • Build scalable and maintainable application architecture to support rapid growth.

  • Collaborate closely with founders, product, and design to translate product ideas into production-ready features.

  • Own projects end-to-end, from concept and development to deployment and iteration.

  • Improve platform reliability, performance, and security.

  • Establish engineering processes, development workflows, and technical standards as the team grows.

  • Contribute to product roadmap discussions and help prioritize technical initiatives.

Qualifications
  • 3–8+ years of full-stack software engineering experience, ideally in startup or high-growth environments.

  • Strong experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React or Next.js.

  • Backend development experience using Node.js, Python, Go, or similar languages.

  • Experience designing and building scalable APIs and backend systems.

  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.

  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of complex technical projects.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a product-oriented mindset.

Nice to Have
  • Previous experience as an early or founding engineer at a startup.

  • Experience designing systems and architecture from scratch.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.

  • Experience building SaaS or developer-facing products.

What the Company Offers
  • Opportunity to join as a foundational member of the engineering team.

  • Significant influence over technical architecture and product direction.

  • Competitive compensation and meaningful equity participation.

  • The chance to build and scale a product from 0 → 1 alongside the founding team.
