Job Responsibilities:
Magna New Mobility is building the Unified Factory Platform, a scalable, cloud-native software ecosystem powering manufacturing applications across 120+ global plants.
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Software Development to lead the Core Platform organization responsible for foundational services, infrastructure, data architecture, APIs, and platform scalability across all Unified Factory applications.
This is a senior technical leadership role accountable for long-term platform architecture, engineering excellence, organizational development, and operational performance at enterprise scale.
What you will be doing in this role:
Technical Vision & Architecture
  • Define and own the long-term technical strategy.
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and security across multi-plant global deployments.
  • Drive architecture decisions across distributed systems, IoT integration, event-driven services, and data pipelines.
  • Establish platform standards for APIs, observability, and infrastructure automation.
  • Partner with Product and Hardware teams to enable rapid application development on shared services.

Organizational Leadership
  • Build and lead multiple engineering teams (managers and individual contributors).
  • Hire, develop, and coach engineering leaders.
  • Create mechanisms for high-quality execution, strong design reviews, and operational rigor.
  • Set a high bar for engineering talent and performance management.

Operational Excellence
  • Own uptime, performance SLAs, security posture, and deployment velocity.
  • Drive root cause analysis and long-term corrective actions.
  • Implement measurable KPIs around reliability, latency, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Lead through metrics and establish data-driven decision making.

Cross-Functional Influence
  • Partner with Product, Deployment, Customer Success, and Executive Leadership to align platform roadmap with business priorities.
  • Communicate technical strategy to VP-level stakeholders.
  • Influence hardware integration standards (AMR, forklift IoT, PLC systems).
  • Ensure GDPR and global compliance requirements are met across regions.

Long-Term Platform Strategy
  • Drive multi-year technical roadmap aligned to business plan growth trajectory.
  • Reduce duplication across application(s) through shared services.
  • Design for external commercialization and SaaS scalability.

What you should bring to this role:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field required, Masters Degree preferred
  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering required
  • 2+ years leading managers of engineers preferred
  • Experience owning large-scale distributed systems or platform organizations required
  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute multi-year technical strategy required
  • Experience operating cloud-native systems (AWS preferred) required
  • Strong experience with APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, and DevOps best practices required
  • Experience leading IoT-connected systems or industrial automation platforms
  • Experience scaling SaaS products across global enterprise customers
  • Background in high-availability systems with real-time constraints
  • Strong understanding of data architecture and analytics platforms
  • Experience influencing executive stakeholders and cross-functional teams

Hiring Base Salary Range: $132,080 - $245,300 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). In addition to base salary, some positions are eligible for an annual performance based bonus.
