Job Description A rapidly growing technology-driven organization in the insurance and financial services space is seeking an Engineering Manager, Developer Experience (DevEx), to lead a newly established team dedicated to improving the developer journey and software delivery lifecycle.
In this role, you will build and lead a team of Backend and DevOps engineers focused on creating scalable platforms, self-service tooling, and automation that empower engineering teams to deliver software more efficiently. You will play a key role in shaping developer productivity initiatives, driving AI-enabled engineering practices, and advancing platform engineering capabilities across the organization.
This is a hybrid position based in Waltham, MA, offering the opportunity to influence engineering strategy while partnering with globally distributed teams to deliver a best-in-class developer experience. Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
  • 3+ years of experience leading Backend Engineering teams
  • 5+ years of experience as a Backend Software Engineer in a cloud-first environment
  • Experience managing and mentoring engineers across backend and infrastructure functions
  • Strong technical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes (K8s), and Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives from concept through implementation
  • Experience improving software development processes and developer productivity
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple initiatives
  • Experience building strong partnerships across engineering and business organizations
  • Interest in applying AI technologies to improve software development workflows
