Because this is a management job, your duties may include coordinating and planning with other departments within the company and with company executives. In addition to management skills, you need a firm understanding of the technical aspects of software engineering. Another aspect of this career involves understanding the market and competitor’s products so that your software can compete and meet market demands.

What does a software engineering manager do?

A Software Engineering Manager oversees a team of software engineers, guiding the development of software projects from planning to implementation. They are responsible for managing the team's workflow, ensuring high-quality code, and meeting project deadlines. Their role bridges the gap between technical execution and business objectives, ensuring that software solutions align with strategic goals.

To thrive as a Software Engineering Manager, you need a solid background in software development, team leadership, and project management, often backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. Job Description

ServiceNow is opening a new AI engineering hub in West Palm Beach and hiring the founding leaders who will define its culture, teams, and technical direction from day one. If you've wanted the ownership of a startup with the scale of a global enterprise - this is that moment.

About the role:

Build and lead a world-class Mobile Platform Engineering organization in West Palm Beach that powers AI-native enterprise experiences across iOS and Android. This leader will hire exceptional mobile and AI talent, establish an AI-forward engineering culture, and deliver scalable mobile platform capabilities for purpose-built enterprise applications.

Build an AI-Native Engineering Culture in West Palm Beach

  • Establish and grow the Mobile Platform Engineering organization in West Palm Beach as a strategic hub for mobile and AI innovation.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain excellent AI, Android, iOS, and mobile platform engineering talent.
  • Embed AI-assisted development, automated quality systems, agentic workflows, and rapid experimentation into day-to-day engineering practices.
  • Create a high-performance culture centered on ownership, technical excellence, customer impact, and continuous learning.

Lead Mobile Platform Strategy and Execution

  • Own the technical roadmap for enterprise mobile platform capabilities across Android and iOS.
  • Establish and run on-call rotations, incident response processes, and a blameless postmortem culture that drives reliability improvements.
  • Define reusable frameworks, SDKs, and platform patterns that accelerate application development across multiple product teams.
  • Partner with Product, Design, AI, Infrastructure, and Business leaders to deliver differentiated mobile experiences.
  • Drive excellence in performance, reliability, security, scalability, and operational rigor across the mobile platform.

Architect Enterprise Mobile Experiences

  • Design mobile platform capabilities for purpose-built enterprise applications across customer service, field service, operations, and productivity workflows.
  • Lead architecture for synchronization, offline-first experiences, notifications, inbox experiences, real-time interactions, and workflow execution.
  • Ensure applications perform reliably in low-connectivity and offline environments while meeting enterprise-grade security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
  • Create seamless experiences across mobile clients, AI services, platform capabilities, and enterprise workflows.

Provide Technical Leadership

  • Lead critical architecture reviews and complex technical decisions across mobile, platform integration, and application layers.
  • Own the mobile build and delivery pipeline, including CI/CD reliability, build speed and test infrastructure.
  • Establish standards for observability, telemetry, mobile performance benchmarking, release quality, and production readiness.
  • Mentor Engineering Managers, Staff Engineers, Principal Engineers, and senior technical contributors.
  • Advance mobile innovation through AI-enabled workflows, modern development practices, and strong engineering fundamentals.

Why this role:

Engineering leadership roles that let you build a site from scratch - with a real charter, real resources, and real company-wide impact - are rare at any scale. This isn't a "manage the org" role. It's a "create the org" role.

For leaders who want to leave a mark on both the product and the people who build it, this is the opportunity.

Qualifications
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience with significant experience leading mobile engineering organizations (Android and iOS).
  • 3+ years leading engineering managers or multi-team organizations.
  • Strong technical depth in mobile architecture, APIs, distributed systems, cloud-native services, networking, security, data synchronization, and MAM/MDM enterprise integrations.
  • Track record building and scaling enterprise-grade mobile applications or mobile platforms used at large scale.
  • Experience managing Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders.

Specific AI skills we value

  • Experience building or integrating generative AI, LLM-powered experiences, AI agents, or copilots into mobile or enterprise applications.
  • Working knowledge of RAG, prompt engineering, agent orchestration, tool use, evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and AI safety principles.
  • Familiarity with AI platforms and frameworks such as Azure AI, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or comparable ecosystems.
  • Understanding of on-device AI patterns, small language models, speech or vision models, real-time inference constraints, and mobile latency tradeoffs.
  • Experience applying AI to engineering productivity, including code generation, test generation, automated review, incident analysis, or quality automation.
  • Ability to translate emerging AI capabilities into practical, secure, enterprise-grade mobile workflows.
