Software Development Manager, Platform Engineering

Cloud Infrastructure Engineering | COO GET Engineering

About the Role

We're growing our Cloud Infrastructure Engineering capability within the COO GET Engineering organization and are looking for an Engineering Manager who balances platform engineering expertise with application delivery leadership.

In this role, you'll lead a team of Platform and DevOps engineers while partnering closely with Product, Design, Security, and Engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and developer-friendly solutions. Approximately 60% of the role focuses on delivery ownership for business applications, while the remaining 40% focuses on evolving internal CI/CD platforms, observability, and paved-road developer experiences.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity where you'll help shape technical direction, mentor engineers, remove blockers, and drive operational excellence across modern cloud infrastructure environments.

We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds and experiences who are passionate about building inclusive teams, scalable systems, and impactful technology.

What You'll Do

People & Delivery Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and support the growth of a high-performing Platform/DevOps engineering team

  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and psychologically safe team culture

  • Own delivery for one or more business applications, including roadmap execution, release planning, risk management, and operational excellence

  • Establish and improve SLOs, SLIs, on-call practices, incident response processes, and postmortem culture

  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, Security, and Engineering stakeholders to align priorities and communicate progress clearly

Platform Engineering & Developer Experience

  • Operate and evolve Kubernetes/EKS environments across multi-AZ and multi-region architectures

  • Drive GitOps and CI/CD best practices using tools such as Argo CD, Flux, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy

  • Build paved roads, templates, and reusable developer workflows that improve engineering productivity and reduce complexity

  • Support infrastructure automation and infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform and AWS CDK

Reliability, Security & Observability

  • Improve observability and operational visibility across logs, metrics, tracing, and synthetic monitoring

  • Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to implement secure-by-default infrastructure practices

  • Help optimize cloud cost efficiency, scalability, reliability, and performance across AWS and Kubernetes ecosystems

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, resilience engineering, and operational ownership

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of people leadership experience managing and developing engineers

  • 7+ years of engineering experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering, or related areas

  • Experience delivering and operating business-critical applications in AWS environments

  • Strong experience with AWS services including EKS, EC2, VPC networking, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudWatch

  • Experience with Kubernetes operations, Helm, autoscaling, and infrastructure security practices

  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows

  • Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or AWS CDK

  • Programming experience in Python, Java, TypeScript, or Node.js

  • Familiarity with SRE practices, including incident management, SLIs/SLOs, and operational excellence

  • Strong communication and stakeholder partnership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or operating Internal Developer Platforms and self-service engineering workflows

  • Familiarity with service meshes, policy engines, secrets management, and platform governance

  • Experience supporting multi-region architectures and resilience engineering initiatives

  • Knowledge of observability platforms, distributed tracing, and synthetic monitoring strategies

  • Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, SNS, or SQS

  • Familiarity with SOX, SOC2, compliance frameworks, and FinOps practices
