About the Role:

Reporting

The Engineering - Electrical III reports directly to the Director of Engineering.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Designs alterations to the aircraft avionics/ electrical systems.
  • Produce detailed interface wiring diagrams in AutoCAD to support new avionics/ electrical installations.
  • Prepare, revise, check and approve system architecture and wiring diagrams for all elements of integrating the avionics/ electrical systems(depending on experience).
  • Prepare, revise, and check the system engineering analysis and substantiation reports including FHA and SSA.
  • Prepare, revise, and check Flight Manual and Maintenance Manual Supplements.
  • Conduct Engineering Conformity Inspections.
  • Ensure all design and administrative paperwork related to project certification is maintained in accordance with the company DAPM and Engineering Procedures Manual.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers as the technical contact when required.
  • Support other departments such as MRO, Avionics, Sales, and Customer Support.
  • Assist with the development of work estimates and schedules.
  • Act as project lead when assigned by the Director of Engineering or Engineering Project Manager.
  • Supervise junior staff and co-op students.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering or Engineering Project Manager.
  • Adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Maintenance of the necessary knowledge and technical competencies required to carry out assigned tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to maintain in a high level of productivity without sacrificing quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, avionics or electrical engineering (other qualifications such as a technologist degree or diploma may be considered).
  • Advanced job-related degrees are an asset.
  • P.Eng. designation from a recognized Canadian engineering association is preferred. Other designations such as ENG Lor P. Tech may be considered.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office suite, CAD software (AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks preferred).
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally for work. 
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English (both written and verbal).
  • Knowledge on aircraft certification procedures.
  • Knowledge on aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of part FAR 23, FAR 25, FAR 27, and FAR 29 aircraft design standards.

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years related aviation engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated capability and competency in the field of expertise.
  • Proficient in engineering software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Design and analysis experience in aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
  • Experience in avionics installations and/or repair is an asset.
