One of our clients in Reston VA needs a Software Engineer for a permanent position.

Job Description:
We are seeking a talented Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our growing team in Virginia. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in backend software development, cloud-native application development, and data engineering using modern AWS technologies. This role requires expertise in Node.js, Python/PySpark, Apache Spark, PostgreSQL, SQL optimization, and AWS services to design, develop, and maintain scalable applications and data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Node.js and JavaScript.
  • Build and optimize cloud-native applications leveraging AWS services.
  • Develop ETL and large-scale data processing pipelines using PySpark, Apache Spark, and AWS Glue.
  • Design, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including indexing, partitioning, and query performance tuning.
  • Develop RESTful APIs, integrations, and workflow automation solutions.
  • Utilize AWS services including Lambda, S3, RDS, EventBridge, and Step Functions.
  • Deploy and manage applications within Docker and containerized environments.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support application deployments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams following Agile development methodologies.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to software design and architecture discussions.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience supporting Federal Government projects.
  • Active Public Trust Clearance.
  • Experience building scalable enterprise applications in AWS environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
