Flight Specialties Components Corp. (FSC), a subsidiary of HEICO Aerospace, is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to assist in the design of electro-mechanical components at our facility in Highland Heights, Ohio.
PRIME RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position reports directly to the FSC Engineering Manager, NPD.
  • Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
    • Create detail and assembly drawings for mechanical and electrical designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software
    • Create bills of materials
    • Collaborate with project engineers and other team members to develop and refine design concepts
    • Utilize geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) techniques to accurately convey design intent
    • Review and revise drawings based on feedback from engineering, quality, supplier, and manufacturing teams
    • Measure mechanical characteristics on complex geometries using tools such as calipers, micrometers, 3D scanning machine, vision measurement system, coordinate measuring machine (CMM)
    • Document design changes via engineering change requests (ECRs) and engineering change orders (ECOs)
    • Assist in the tracking of ECR/ECO review, approval, and closure
    • Work with internal Quality/Inspection to ensure design requirements are inspectable.
    • Record and track redlined drawings for incorporation of changes into subsequent drawing revisions
    • Assist with keeping drawing templates up to date with latest standard practices
  • Perform other activities as assigned by management

EDUCATION / PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required and at least 5 years of mechanical design work experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with drafting standards and 3D modeling techniques is required
  • Understanding of engineering drawing types per ASME Y14.24 and GD&T per ASME Y14.5 is required
  • Familiarity with aerospace materials, finishes, and design specifications is required
  • Experience with detail and assembly drawings is required
  • Ability to perform design simulations to analyze characteristics such as strength, heat transfer using CAD software is required
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical documentation for both mechanical and electrical/electronic components is required
  • Familiarity with tolerance stack-up analysis is required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products is required
  • Familiarity with aerospace electronics is preferred
  • Ability to model complex parametric geometries and for various manufacturing methods including CNC machining, stamping, and injection molding is preferred
  • Successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, will be detailed oriented, and will be safety conscious
  • Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks and have the drive and ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence required
