You hire and train new staff, manage and evaluate existing developers, provide guidance on the design and implementation of new software applications, and ensure that projects stay on schedule and within budget. You collaborate with upper-level management and your developers to make sure that new and existing software applications meet business objectives.

What does a software development manager do?

A Software Development Manager oversees teams of software engineers to ensure successful planning, development, and delivery of software projects. They coordinate project timelines, allocate resources, and facilitate communication between team members and stakeholders. • Coordinate activities across Surface Acquisition, Engineering & Design, Permitting, Construction, Midstream, Water Transfer, and Operations teams.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using Monday.com, while tracking progress, constraints, risks, and critical path activities.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, and status updates through PMO systems.
  • Support budget development and monitor project expenditures using SiteView.
  • Facilitate project meetings, coordinate follow-up actions, and ensure stakeholders have clear visibility into project priorities and next steps.
  • Support project bidding, contractor coordination, and project closeout activities.
  • Provide regular project updates and executive-level reporting to support effective decision-making.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement across project management processes.
Your Background:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–7 years of project management or project coordination experience.
  • Experience in oil and gas, construction, infrastructure, operations, or a related industry preferred.
  • Strong project management, organizational, planning, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams.
  • Experience developing schedules, tracking budgets, preparing reports, and identifying project risks or constraints.
  • Proficiency with project management software and reporting systems preferred; experience with Monday.com and SiteView is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • PMP certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
