Synapse ITS is looking for an energetic and results-driven Business Development Manager, for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), with a focus on wrong way vehicle detection systems (WWVDS). This position will cover the Western United States to support the GovComm branded products and developing successful relationships with customers, consultants, and ITS installing contractors and driving business growth. The ideal candidate will have intelligent transportation experience and a proven track record in sales, excellent communication skills, and a passion for safety and a customer-first focus.


Primary Responsibilities:

Business Development and Sales Growth:

  • Drive product specifications with government agencies to achieve profitable sales growth.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships by understanding their needs and providing solutions through a consultative sales process.
  • Support ITS installation and maintenance contractor with excellent training, customer service and first level technical support.
  • Navigate a complex sales cycle with multiple stakeholders and build relationships with decision makers throughout.
  • Achieve agreed-upon sales targets and outcomes within the scheduled timeline.

Support & Industry Engagement:

  • Actively participate in webinars, trade shows, conferences, and seek opportunities to present to industry groups.
  • Keep abreast of product changes, market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Educating consulting engineers through lunch-and-learns and other mechanisms on wrong way vehicle detection technologies, the safety benefits of such systems and potential integration with Advanced Traffic Management Systems.

Administrative & Reporting:

  • Assist the quoting and technical writing teams to provide key information needed to develop project take-offs (line items required), bid quotations, site drawings, and technical engineering submittals .
  • Ensure accurate expense reporting and adherence to the corporate budget.
  • Regularly update colleagues on progress and provide sales forecasts for the territory.
  • Utilize CRM for accurate reporting and analysis.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned in the role of Business Development Manager.
Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not required.


Requirements:

  • Proven +5 years track record of driving sales growth of technical solutions including hardware and software.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with customers, and stakeholders with a commitment to service excellence.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong product knowledge, as well as an understanding of competitor positioning.
  • Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office, lead generation, and other relevant tools.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and group communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
