Job description

Design EngineerSummary:

Reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, the Design Engineer is responsible for all aspects of new product design, existing product improvement as well as reconfiguration of existing product for new applications, including the design, documentation, manufacturability, and implementation into production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Lead the design of new products, improvement of existing products and reconfiguration of existing products for new applications while working closely with various company departments.
  • Assist in project management for all aspects of product design.
  • Provide product definition through engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Research and evaluate products and parts for cost, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Support the development and maintenance of engineering drawings and Bill of Materials.
  • Complete accurate work and meet deadlines.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, root-cause problem solving, and continuous improvement support to the Manufacturing and Operations teams.
  • Interact with customers to solve problems, propose solutions, and plan projects. Some travel may be required within the U.S. and Canada.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Support Quality Department with inspections and Purchasing Department with supplier assessment and approval.
  • As part of the AROW Global team you will need to understand the AROW Business System policy and objectives and how you affect conformance to them.
Qualifications:
  • Two-year technical degree in a Product Design Engineering program. Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering program is strongly desired.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar parametric modeling software.
  • Experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system; knowledge of IFS is preferred.
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical specifications, professional journals, test reports, and drawings.
  • Capacity to write technical reports, service procedures, installation instructions, and other types of technical product documentation.
  • Familiarity with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane geometry, solid geometry, and trigonometry, and an ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player while seeking opportunities for improvement.
