Hatch is seeking a dynamic Structural Engineering Trainee to join their Engineering Delivery, Structural group, providing engineering services to large and small projects. The role is responsible for the analysis and design of structures for hydropower, dam, and heavy industrial settings. Reporting to the Structural Discipline Lead Engineer, you will support projects globally while working from the Niagara Falls office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work independently to apply engineering principles to perform calculations for structural analysis and design of industrial building and equipment support structures and foundations
  • Work collaboratively to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and/or other Hatch groups
  • Prepare calculation reports and engineering documents to be used by internal and external stakeholders
  • Become knowledgeable of structural analytical software and tools, building codes and material design codes, discipline workflows and execution, and building and equipment structure and foundation systems
  • Participate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed to support office and site activities
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices or project work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities arise

Education and Experience:ย 

  • Must be working towards graduating in 2026, or recently graduated, with a Masterโ€™s Degree or Ph.D. in Structural Engineering
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
  • Preferred academic courses include Structural Analysis, Structural Mechanics, Reinforced Concrete Design, Structural Steel Design, Foundation Design
  • Advanced courses including Hydropower and Dam Structures, Structural Dynamics and Finite Element Analysis are an asset
  • Previous relevant co-op and summer work terms or internships in structural engineering is an asset
  • Academic or work experience with structural software such as SAP2000 and/or STAADPro, FEA (Ansys, LS-Dyna, Abaqus), CAD software, and MathCAD is an asset

Compensation:

Range: $84,000 - $90,000

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
