Job description

We are seeking an experienced Generative AI Software Developer/Engineer for a 12+ month contract position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role is part of the Applied Research and Technology (ART) Aerospace Technologies Team, which is focused on designing and developing next-generation avionics systems. The ART Development Sandbox team is chartered with defining new disruptive developmental process improvements to enable faster cycle times, lower total lifecycle cost, reduce tech debt, and enable greater reusability.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, design, and conduct experiments to accelerate business capabilities in Generative AI for safety-critical development
  • Approach everyday problems with obsessive passion, curiosity, and innovative thinking
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment and clearly communicate technical guidance, mentoring, and support to multiple sub-projects
  • Demonstrate strong ownership and initiative while empowering others
  • Prioritize positive impact and data-driven decision-making

Qualifications
  • Required
    • Strong software development experience and skills
    • Proficiency in Unix/Linux
    • Proficiency in Python (3+ years of experience)
    • Proven execution skills in the development of complex systems
    • Ability to communicate clearly to large audiences
    • Passion or experience in AI/ML or Generative AI (minimum 2 years of experience)
    • Understanding of the fundamentals of AI/ML through research or practice
    • Proficiency in Full Stack Development
    • Experience deploying Generative AI powered applications
    • Experience with Large Language Model (LLM) development frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Haystack)
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with lots of team engagement, change, and pivoting
  • Preferred
    • Minimal ego with understanding that everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of experience
