Job description

Redwire is an innovative space and defense technology company driving advanced capabilities across the aerospace sector. We are looking for a leader who can contribute to concept of operations development, mission solution design, and strategic analysis for spacecraft programs supporting National Security Space. This includes work spanning space domain awareness, space resiliency, mission autonomy, structures, sensors, and next‑generation space systems.
The Full Stack Software Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining end‑to‑end software capabilities that power the company’s simulation, digital‑engineering, and mission‑system platforms. This role blends modern frontend engineering, high‑performance backend development, and systems‑level thinking to ensure that user interfaces, APIs, data pipelines, and real‑time services are coherent, scalable, secure, and aligned with mission and product objectives. You will develop advanced React interfaces, implement high‑throughput backend services in Python/C++/Rust, integrate with distributed systems and simulation workflows, and collaborate closely with systems
engineers, mission analysts, UI/UX designers, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable, data‑rich, and performance‑critical applications across aerospace and defense environments.
Major Responsibilities
  • Design and build full‑stack software capabilities supporting simulation, digital‑engineering, and mission‑system workflows.
  • Develop advanced frontend interfaces using TypeScript/JavaScript, React, and scalable UI architectures.
  • Implement high‑performance backend services in Python, C++, or Rust for APIs, microservices, and real‑time pipelines.
  • Integrate with distributed systems including simulation engines, data pipelines, and mission‑analysis tools.
  • Design and maintain APIs including REST, GraphQL, and gRPC interfaces with strong schema governance.
  • Build real‑time processing pipelines supporting deterministic, concurrent, or multi‑threaded execution.
  • Develop complex visualization tools for physics‑based simulations and real‑time system behavior.
  • Ensure reliability and observability through logging, metrics, tracing, error handling, and automated testing.
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines including systems, mission analysis, UI/UX, and DevOps.
  • Contribute to CI/CD and engineering rigor through testing, code reviews, and Git‑driven workflows.
Ideal Experience
  • STEM foundation — Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related STEM field.
  • Full‑stack engineering experience — 1–5 years building production systems across frontend and backend domains.
  • Systems‑level understanding — Concurrency, distributed systems, data modeling, caching, and performance optimization.
  • Modern frontend expertise — TypeScript/JavaScript, React, and contemporary UI engineering practices.
  • Core web fundamentals — HTML, CSS, browser internals, rendering pipelines, and performance constraints.
  • Advanced React patterns — Hooks, context architectures, compound components, scalable state management.
  • Design systems amp; component architecture — Component libraries, design systems, CSS‑in‑JS, modular CSS, utility‑first approaches.
  • Complex visualization work — Physics‑based simulations, engineering workflows, real‑time system behavior.
  • Backend integration fluency — REST, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSockets.
Pay range
$102,000 - $161,000 per year
