Job description

SG2 Recruiting is supporting Wind RiverX in the search for a Senior Software Engineer to support a classified program. This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer with deep expertise in Ada development, embedded networking, and secure communications protocols operating within mission-critical environments.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, integration, and testing of advanced networking and embedded software solutions used in aerospace and defense applications. This position offers the opportunity to work on highly visible programs where reliability, performance, and security are paramount.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining software solutions using the Ada programming language.

  • Developing and implementing networking protocols and secure communications capabilities for embedded systems.

  • Translating operational concepts (CONOPS), specifications, and requirements into software designs, code, test plans, and verification activities.

  • Supporting software architecture, detailed design, implementation, debugging, integration, and performance optimization.

  • Collaborating closely with engineering teams, program stakeholders, and customers to deliver high-quality software solutions.

  • Participating in software integration and testing activities on target hardware platforms.

  • Troubleshooting complex software and networking issues using industry-standard debugging and test equipment.

  • Contributing to secure communications implementations utilizing IPsec and IKE technologies.

  • Supporting development efforts within real-time and embedded operating environments.

  • Maintaining software configuration management and version control using Git or similar tools.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related STEM discipline.

  • U.S. Citizenship with active U.S. Security Clearance

  • Strong hands-on experience developing software in Ada, C, C++ programming languages.

  • 10+ years of experience in networking protocol development, software design, and implementation.

  • Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts including: Ethernet, VLAN tagging, IPv6 Neighbor Discovery (ND), IPsec

  • 5+ years of experience implementing or integrating IPsec and Internet Key Exchange (IKE v1 and/or IKE v2).

  • Experience developing embedded networking software.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams and customer organizations.

If You Have This, It's a Plus:

  • Experience Python or other scripting languages.

  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, automotive, medical device, public safety, or other mission-critical industries.

  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), including: Linux, FreeRTOS, QNX, VxWorks

  • Experience with:

    • Multi-threaded and parallel processing architectures

    • Distributed systems

    • Multi-core embedded platforms

    • System-on-Module (SoM) technologies

    • Board Support Packages (BSPs)

    • Device driver development

    • API design

  • Experience performing software integration, debugging, and testing using: GDB, LLDB, Oscilloscopes, Logic analyzers, JTAG and Universal Asynchronous Receiver - Transmitter (UART) interfaces

  • Experience with model-based engineering tools such as Cameo.

  • Experience working within Agile software development environments.
