Job Summary:
Texas A&M University System is one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, and they are seeking an Associate Software Applications Developer. The role involves supporting software development teams to create and maintain web-based applications, while assisting with various programming and documentation tasks.
Responsibilities:
• The associate Software Applications Developer will serve on software development teams to create and support web-based applications. Performs entry software development support functions.
• Assists clients and co-workers to define application requirements. Identifies programming and output needs.
• Assists in and verifies preliminary design and output, and recommends technical and procedural design for new or revised applications including flow charts, system specifications, programming guidelines, and code review.
• Assists in reviewing, modifying, and writing program code and job control language.
• Assists in writing documentation of system procedures and guidelines for application users as well as for programs and program modifications.
• Assists with testing of complex programs, program modifications, or applications.
• Answers questions and provides technical assistance and training to application users. Resolves problems by reviewing and analyzing software documentation and production outputs to identify causes, solutions, and make appropriate referrals.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• No experience required.
• Knowledge of web site development with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Knowledge of SQL Server or other relational databases.
• Knowledge of object-oriented development (e.g. C#, ASP.NET or PHP) applied in a web environment.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Occasional work outside of normal office hours/weekends.
• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred:
• Experience with web site development with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Experience with SQL Server or other relational databases.
