Job description

 
The Highlights:
In accordance with the mission of the Department of Athletics, the Assistant Softball Coach will assist in administering the progress and success of the intercollegiate women's softball program within the guidelines of the NCAA, the BIG EAST Conference and DePaul University. This includes all pre-season, in-season and post-season activities necessary to the development of a nationally-competitive team. 
 
What You'll Do:

1. Leads all aspects of the pitching staff development, preparation and performance. Including, but not limited to, creating and implementing individualized pitching development plans tailored to each student-athletes strengths, goals and areas for growth. 

2. Assist in coordinating the evaluation, recruitment, preparation and development of all student-athletes. Such evaluation and recruitment activities may include, but are not limited to identifying, contacting and recruiting prospective student-athletes by phone, mail and other forms of correspondence; traveling to various locations throughout Chicago and across the country to meet and evaluate in person prospective student-athletes; and operating camps and clinics. 

3. Assists with team travel logistics, including, itineraries, transportation and hotel coordination.  

4. Assist in all aspects of the preparation and development of women's softball student-athletes. Such activities may include, but are not limited to planning practice sessions, video analysis of performance, providing feedback and encouraging positive performance 
5. Knowledge of and adherence to all NCAA rules, policies and procedures pertaining to women's softball. Attend and participate in monthly NCAA rules compliance meetings. 

6. Assist in monitoring and encouraging the scholastic progress of student-athletes in conjunction with the Athletic Academic Advising Office, so as to promote their academic success.

Assist Head Coach in supervision of volunteer and student assistant coaches and student managers. 

What You'll Need:

Bachelor's Degree, required.
3 - 5 years coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA Division I level.
Collegiate playing experience, preferred.
Annual NCAA Recruiting certification. 
Valid driver's license, preferred. 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Technically proficient in Teamworks, ARMS, PitchCom and Synergy.
Demonstrated experience in working in a diverse urban and/or intercollegiate athletics environment.
Dedication to serving the department, the University and the student-athletes with the highest level of leadership, initiative and integrity.
Position requires working evening, weekend and holiday hours during school year.
Travel may be required for extended periods of time for competition and recruiting.

 The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $67,000 to $75,000 
The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
