What do social workers do?

Social workers help individuals, families, and communities cope with challenges in their lives. They provide support, resources, and advocacy to assist people dealing with issues such as mental health, child welfare, substance abuse, and poverty. Social workers may work in various settings, including schools, hospitals, and community organizations, and often help clients navigate complex social services systems.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Social Worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Social Worker, you need a solid understanding of human behavior, social systems, and case management, usually supported by a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work and relevant state licensure. Familiarity with case management software, documentation systems, and knowledge of local social services resources is typically required.
