Description
The Springfield College Department of Social Work invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Social Work who will also serve as the MSW Program Director to start in Fall 2026.
The Department of Social Work at Springfield College fosters a collaborative and inclusive environment, preparing students to be leaders and advocates for social change. Located in Springfield, MA, we offer opportunities to engage with diverse communities and address pressing social issues through teaching, research, and service. Housed in the School of Health Sciences, the Department of Social Work offers BSW and MSW degrees, accredited by CSWE. Within the MSW program, students can complete a 100% online program, or an in-person weekday or evening program.
In addition to social work, the School of Health Sciences includes programs in physician assistant studies, physical therapy, communication sciences and disorders, public health, occupational therapy, and health science. The school is housed in Blake Hall and in the spectacular new Brown Cooper Health Sciences Center, with stellar facilities, including an interprofessional simulation suite featuring high-fidelity simulation and standardized participant programming; a maker space enabling a vast array of creative projects supporting health and wellness; an activities of daily living suite to promote real-life applications of rehabilitation practices; and technology-supported classrooms and conference rooms. Interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, engaged student learning, as well as global, intergenerational, and multicultural perspectives are priorities of the School.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the MSW Program Director, providing leadership and oversight of the program, including curriculum development, CSWE accreditation, student recruitment, and faculty mentoring.
- Work closely with the Practicum Director and Practicum Support Specialist to ensure strong practicum education
- Teach graduate-level social work courses with a focus on policy, research, and related areas, both in-person and online.
- The college subscribes to the Boyer areas of scholarship. Candidates should have an active research agenda (or promise of) in any of the Boyer areas of scholarship that has potential for dissemination beyond the college.
- Mentor and advise MSW students, supporting their academic and professional development.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that reflects the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our student population.
- Collaborate with department faculty and university administration to ensure the success of the MSW program.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in social work or a closely related field by position start date, a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited program, and be licensed or eligible for licensure in social work.
Preferred Qualifications
Successful candidates will have a record of teaching excellence, including experience with online and hybrid learning modalities. Evidence of experience in academic leadership or program administration and curriculum development and CSWE accreditation processes will strengthen the application. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, community partners, and other stakeholders with strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills to work effectively with students, faculty, practicum educators, and community partners should be evident in applicant materials. A track record of securing external funding for research or program development will further strengthen the application.
