Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. It is the ultimate goal of our dedicated staff to build strength, confidence and knowledge within each patient, in hopes that they may continue learning and understanding their needs and practicing self-care for the rest of their lives.
Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented licensed Social Work Associate to join our team of compassionate and dedicated clinical professionals.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Social Work Associate provides social services under the direct supervision of a Lead Social Worker, Director of Clinical Services or designee to all inpatients/day hospital patients. The Social Work Associate is a member of the multidisciplinary treatment teams and of the units and is responsible to the Lead Social Worker and the Director of Clinical Services or designee.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Participates as an integral professional member of a multidisciplinary treatment team led by the psychiatrist.
  • Facilitates the therapeutic milieu on the treatment unit.
  • Performs social work interventions as directed by the treatment team, the treating psychiatrist and/or the Lead Social Worker.
  • Obtains and assesses social history information and reports this to the treatment teams.
  • Performs discharge planning/case management from the day of admission.
  • Provides group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, substance abuse group/didactic, and/or couples therapy as deemed appropriate by the treatment team, the treating psychiatrist, Director of Clinical Services and/or Lead Social Work.
  • Acts as liaison for hospitalized patients with various community agencies and resources.
  • Attends treatment team conferences and completes treatment plans.
  • Documents in the medical record

Qualifications
  • Second year last quarter student in a Master of Social Work program from a school of Social Work accredited by the Council of Social Work Education
  • Experience on an inpatient psychiatric unit a must.
  • Employee must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, performance evaluation, etc.) to be considered for an internal transfer.
