Skill Sprout (www.skillsprout.com) was established in 2009 and provides educational and therapeutic services to children.  We provide home-based ABA services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders throughout the states of Illinois and Texas.  In addition to in-home services, we provide center-based programs throughout Illinois.  Our center-based services include; rehab services, mental health services, and tutoring services. 

Job Description

The Social Skills Therapist's role is to provide quality care to clients receiving social skills services.  It is a part-time position and is volunteer-based. This position reports directly to a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct therapy services with Skill Sprout clients within the mental health department, which may include social skills treatment and/or individual, family and group counseling. Services will only be delivered on an outpatient basis in the office setting
  • Collect data, prepare materials and train other line therapist staff as directed by Consultants
  • Attend all team meetings and trainings, and complete all necessary paperwork as directed by Consultants or administrative staff
  • Commit to and follow a weekly schedule with each assigned family, documenting all services
  • Report directly to the designated Clinical Case Coordinator (CCC) or the Director of Mental Health Services, if the CCC is unavailable
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times when working with other Skill Sprout staff and clients or families
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

The Social Skills Therapist will have the following experience and attributes:

      • Candidates must have a  Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling or related field. OR Bachelors degree with related experience in childhood education, behavior therapy, social work, etc.
      • Preference for cnadidates with LCPC or LCSW. 
      • Preferred prior experience working with children with disabilities; experience working with typically developing children will be considered.
