Classification Summary
County Human Services, Bagley, MN is hiring a full-time Social Services Supervisor. Salary range for this position is $39.93-$51.48 per hour.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to assessment, interpretation, and application of federal, state and local social service statutes, policies and procedures. This position supervises Agency Social Workers and Case Aides that provide services in program areas such as child protection, adult protection, mental-health case management, adult services and developmental-disabilities case management, foster care, day care, and family-based services. This position also serves as a member of the agency's leadership team.
Merit System Classification Duties: Performs highly responsible professional work in the administration and supervision of social services programs including the interpretation and assessment of policies and the supervision of professional, paraprofessional, and office support personnel within the social services division; supervises a unit providing services in one or more of the following program areas: child-protective services, adult-protective services, mental-health case management, developmental-disabilities case management, foster care, day care, family-based services, and school-based social services; performs related work as assigned.

Lake Itasca is in Itasca State Park in south-eastern Clearwater County and is notable for being the headwaters of the Mississippi River. Established in 1891, Itasca State Park is Minnesota's oldest state park and second oldest in the United States. It is famous as the location of the Mississippi headwaters but was originally created to protect the magnificent, old-growth pine trees from logging. โ€ข Selects qualified personnel for the unit.
โ€ข Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
โ€ข Evaluates staff performance and recommends appropriate action.
โ€ข Holds individual conferences with staff and interprets agency/state policies, rules and regulations.
โ€ข Reviews case records to ensure that agency and state policies, rules and regulations are adhered to and proper social work practices are being observed.
โ€ข Monitors and evaluates the provision of client services in the program area.
โ€ข Fosters effective community-agency relations and organizes community projects.
โ€ข Participates in community meetings and is responsible for the utilization of community resources.
โ€ข Writes and monitors purchase of service contracts with area vendors.
โ€ข Interviews clients when special problems arise, listens to concerns, grievances and recommends/takes appropriate action.
โ€ข Handles emergency situations when necessary.
โ€ข Performs program analysis and needs assessment.
โ€ข Monitors budget and keeps management appraised of budget deviations.
โ€ข Provides justification for budget deviations to management staff and/or county board.
โ€ข Assists in the planning and development of social services budget and provides the justification and rationale to county board regarding social service unit/division budget needs and requests.
โ€ข Assists in writing and developing the agency community social service plan.
โ€ข Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work.
Minimum Qualifications
Minnesota Merit's Minimum Qualifications
An accredited master's degree from an accredited intuition in social work or clinical psychology, counseling psychology, human services administration, or closely related field (i.e., applied behavioral sciences) and one year of experience as a social worker.
Or
โ€ข Baccalaureate degree from an accredited intuition in social work from an accredited college/university and two years of experience as a social worker.
Or
โ€ข Baccalaureate degree from an accredited intuition in a closely related field (psychology, sociology, human services) and three years of experience as a social worker.
OR
โ€ข Baccalaureate degree in a unrelated field from an accredited college/university and five years of experience as a social worker.
Clearwater County Preferred Qualifications
Experience in County Social Services. Experience in managing budgets and various grants and funding sources. Leadership and supervision experience.
