Overview

Big Sky Resort is seeking a qualified Mechanic to join our high-performing Fleet Maintenance Team. This position offers the opportunity to develop a varied skillset through work on diverse machinery.  While collaborating within a supportive team environment, the ideal candidate will be driven, independent and a strong self starter. Responsibilities and qualifications will align with the specific type of equipment being maintained.


Responsibilities

The Automotive Mechanic:

  • Troubleshooting
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Vehicle inspections on pick-up trucks, and small engines

The Snowcat Mechanic

  • Troubleshooting and repair on snowcats, heavy equipment, rolling stock and small engine
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team setting.

Qualifications

The Automotive Mechanic:

  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in automotive and/or professional training

  • Required knowledge of all automotive systems including engine, transmission, axle, brake and electronics.

  • Experience with welding oxy-acetylene, and fabrication is a plus.

  • Must be able to work independently and as a team servicing a fleet of vehicles.
  • Previous diagnostic and repair experience required

The Snowcat Mechanic:

  • 2 years of experience in snowcat maintenance and repair.
  • knowledge of gas and diesel engines, hydraulic and hydro-static systems
  • Experience in welding and acetylene cutting required

General Qualifications:

  • Previous heavy equipment experience required
  • Schedule is 7am start; generally works four ten hour shifts
  • Heavy lifting and the ability to work outdoors in cold temperatures also required
