Job description

Snowcat Operator (Groomer)
Angel Fire Resort is now hiring dedicated, detail-oriented Snowcat Operators for our winter season. The Snowcat Operator (Groomer) is responsible for operating and maintaining snow grooming equipment to create an enjoyable skiing and snowboarding experience for guests at the ski resort. The operator will work closely with the grooming team to ensure that all trails are groomed to the highest standards and that all equipment is properly maintained. In this position, you will work evening and overnight shifts preparing the mountain for ski activities the following day. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, will work well alone for long periods of time, and will operate snowcats following all department procedures and safety policies.

Base Pay: Starts at $20/hr depending on experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Operate snowcats to groom ski trails and terrain parks, maintain snow conditions, conduct special events, and transport equipment
  • Perform regular inspection and minor maintenance and repairs on grooming equipment
  • Communicate with other grooming team members in person and with two-way radios to coordinate grooming schedules and ensure that grooming plans are properly executed
  • Monitor snow conditions and adjust grooming techniques as necessary to create optimal skiing and snowboarding experiences for guests
  • Ensure that all grooming equipment is properly cared for and maintained
  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols
Environment: This is a physically demanding, outdoor, night time position which includes working long hours in variable (severe, cold, wet, adverse) winter weather conditions. Must be able to regularly lift/carry 100lbs.
Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent and previous experience operating snow grooming equipment or similar. The ability to work overnight in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs on grooming equipment.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and sit to operate grooming equipment for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in cold and snowy conditions for extended periods of time. Excellent hand-eye coordination.
Seasonal position: Full-time positions are available. Due to the resort nature of our business, candidates must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Other: A ski jacket and snow pants will be provided as part of the uniform. Must provide all other winter clothing and boots.
