Job description

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations and human resources functions for an established business in Lexington, South Carolina. This position plays a central role in keeping accounting processes accurate, organized, and compliant while also contributing to payroll, benefits administration, and employee onboarding. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:

• Direct daily accounting activities across payables, receivables, and general transaction processing to ensure timely and accurate financial management.

• Review and post financial entries, maintaining complete and reliable records for routine business activity.

• Perform regular reconciliations for bank accounts and company credit cards, resolving discrepancies promptly.

• Produce financial statements and internal reports that support leadership visibility into business performance.

• Lead monthly and annual close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and documentation is properly maintained.

• Administer payroll and coordinate required tax filings with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.

• Track inventory values and maintain organized records to support operational and financial reporting.

• Monitor adherence to accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and retirement plan compliance obligations, including 401(k) reporting and testing.

• Support human resources administration by coordinating employee onboarding, employee insurance matters, and workers’ compensation activities.

• Provide general administrative assistance as needed to help maintain efficient office operations.

• At least 5 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related financial management position.
• Solid knowledge of core accounting practices, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and period-end close.
• Hands-on experience with payroll processing, quarterly tax responsibilities, and financial record maintenance.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with accounting software and standard office applications.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, analyze cash flow, and maintain a high level of accuracy in detailed work.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and work effectively both independently and with a team.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with a detail-focused approach to internal collaboration.
• An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
