Job description

American Industrial Contractors (AIC) is a full-service mechanical contractor focused on installing and servicing HVAC systems in commercial, retail and industrial buildings in North Carolina’s Triad region. For over 35 years, AIC has been delivering both design/build and plan/spec installations. AIC fabricates and installs ductwork and fabricates and installs weld pipe, screw pipe, copper lines and PVC lines.


Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the assembly and installation of Duct Systems at the job site.
  • Lead field construction teams to successful and timely completion
  • Serve as a liaison between GC and AIC on job sites
  • Maintain a solution focused mindset to identify and address work site problems promptly
  • Modifies ductwork in the field as needed
  • Read, translate, and explain drawings and construction plans to teams
  • Focus on managing labor hours and keeping them at or below budget when possible
  • Managing to keep limited number of quality errors and rework
  • Operate and train team members on all needed equipment
  • Make field measurements and fabrication sketches in relation to the duct systems.
  • Assist in rigging equipment into place
  • Transport equipment and material to and from the shop and jobsite.
  • Possess deep knowledge of safety protocols and practices for the business and reviews them daily with teams; report all incidents the same day
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills


Requirements:

  • Has a minimum of 5yrs experience as a Sheet Metal Mechanic
  • Has a minimum of 2yrs experience in a Supervisory role
  • Knowledge of SMACNA Standards for ductwork
  • Experience with ductwork design
  • Experience installing ductwork accessories such as fire dampers, smoke detectors, duct detectors, and access doors
  • Experience using a Ductulator
  • Has full knowledge of hand and power tools and experience with lift equipment
  • Has a valid driver's license
  • Has demonstrated ability to take detailed instructions and provide detailed instructions to a crew
  • Has strong math skills
  • Is a clear communicator
  • Has extensive mechanical knowledge

  • Lifting Up to 60lbs - often
  • Environmental and Safety Risk Requirements - Required to pass drug screen for position
