Speech/Language Pathologist Assistant 2025-26 School Year at Brentwood Union School District (Northern California) Share on X Print Application Deadline Until Filled Date Posted 7/28/2026 Contact Emily Cooper 925-513-6313 Number of Openings 1 Salary Pay Range $27.95 - $37.14 Per Hour Add'l Salary Info Based on Education and Experience $27.95 - $37.14 / per hour (6 steps) Length of Work Year 181 days Employment Type Part Time Job Description / Essential Elements: Print Job Title: Speech/Language Pathologist Assistant Reports to:Site Administrator/Program Manager Work Year:181 days Primary Functions: Under the direct, immediate or indirect supervision of a credentialed or licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), to assist or facilitate while a SLP is evaluating the speech and/or language of students; to treat identified students following the treatment plan developed by the SLP; to assist in directing student treatment activities and maintaining a proper learning environment; to assist with the preparation and administration of treatment materials; to perform a variety of assistant tasks; and to do other related work as required. Performance Responsibilities Provide direct treatment to students identified by supervising SLP. Conduct speech-language and hearing screening (without interpretation) following specified screening protocols developed by the supervising SLP

Follow documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLP. Document student progress toward meeting established objectives as stated in the treatment plan, and report this information to the supervising SLP. Assist with informal documentation (e.g., tallying notes for the SLP to use), prepare and maintain materials, and assist with other clerical duties as directed by the SLP

Schedule activities, prepare charts, records, teaching aides and transparencies. Perform checks and maintenance of equipment Type and duplicate material for classroom use. Assist SLP with scheduling as directed.

Maintain professional standards and confidentiality. Perform all other duties as assigned. Desirable Qualifications: Knowledge of: speech and language development theories and practices; language, articulation and hearing disorders; general methods and techniques of individual and group speech therapy; principles of child development and behavior; laws, rules and regulations related to assigned program and activities; operation and maintenance of augmentative communication devices and equipment; record keeping procedures and practices; operation of office methods, supplies and equipment; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; oral and written communication skills; first aide techniques; proper methods of lifting and positioning students in and out of orthopedic equipment.

Abilities: Assist in providing speech therapy services for identified students; assist with conducting speech-language and hearing screenings; operate and maintain augmentative communication devices and equipment; monitor and assist in evaluating student progress; perform a variety of record keeping and clerical assistance tasks; speak and write clearly and effectively; follow oral and written directions; operate a computer terminal and its applications; work cooperatively and effectively with students, parents and school staff in a variety of situations. ADA Requirements: Ability to sit, stand for extended periods of time; enough sight, hearing, speech and mobility to complete reports, attend meetings and exchange information; dexterity of the hands and fingers to operate computer terminal and other office equipment; kneeling, bending at waist and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies; ability to lift, push and/or pull light to moderately heavy objects (20-25 lbs.); willingness to clean up bodily fluids. Education/Credential/Licenses: Level 1: Hrly Rate: $21.66 to $26.94 Required Education for Level 1 AA degree from an approved SLP Assistant certification program, or Possession of a BA degree in Speech/Language Pathology or Communication Disorders with 80 hours of clinical supervision, and Eligible for a State SLP Assistant License or Indirect supervision Provide direct treatment Conduct screenings Follow treatment plans Collect data Assist with informal documentation Level 2: Hrly Rate: $20.57 to $25.89 BA degree in Speech/Language Pathology with less than 80 hours of clinical supervision NOTE: Employees at this level will be classified as SLP Aides

* Immediate/direct supervision on an approved plan * Registration with State required in order to be supervised by State licensed SLP Provide direct treatment Follow treatment plans Collect data Assist with informal documentation Level 3: Hrly Rate $20.46 to $25.75 Currently enrolled in a college program leading towards a AA or BA degree in Speech and Language Pathology Completion of 45 semester units with a minimum of 21 semester units in any combination of the following: Communication Disorders, Early Childhood Development, or Working with Special Needs. NOTE: Employees at this level will be classified as SLP Aides. It is expected that employees hired at this level would advance to level 2 or 1 within one year
