Job description

A Slot Host is responsible for monitoring and observing all activity within an assigned casino area while ensuring guests have a positive gaming and entertainment experience. This role requires assisting guests with machine functions, payouts, and resolving issues professionally while adhering to Laguna Development Corporation (LDC) core values, policies, and all regulatory requirements, including Pueblo of Laguna Gaming Control Board and federal/state regulations. Slot Hosts must act as role models, maintain respectful attitudes, and consistently report to work prepared, including working under pressure, unusual hours, weekends, and holidays. They manage sensitive assets such as keys and “pouch pay” banks, perform arithmetic calculations, maintain required logs and records, complete paperwork accurately, and communicate effectively via radio with casino staff. The position also involves identifying slot machine issues, correcting minor malfunctions, resetting machines after jackpots under supervision, and maintaining knowledge of machine types and casino services.

In addition to technical duties, the role emphasizes teamwork, professionalism, and guest engagement by building relationships, addressing complaints calmly, and providing accurate information about promotions, amenities, and directions. Slot Hosts also ensure a clean and safe casino floor by attending to guests promptly, performing light cleaning tasks, and reporting suspicious activity to management. The job requires basic computer skills, use of equipment such as calculators, money pouches, and radios, and the ability to handle significant physical demands, including lifting 50+ lbs., standing, walking, and repetitive movements. Mental demands include problem-solving, decision-making, and data interpretation. While no supervisory duties are required, candidates should have relevant work experience (high school diploma or GED preferred) and must obtain a gaming license, maintain Title 31 certification, and pass pre-employment screenings. The work environment is indoors with exposure to loud noise and smoke, requiring professionalism and strong customer service at all times.
