Job description

Fitesa is a global leader in nonwoven fabric solutions, specializing in providing innovative fabrics the hygiene, medical, and industrial markets. Our location in Terre Haute, IN, has an excellent opportunity for machine Operators to join our rapidly growing team.
Responsible for machine set-up and overall operation of manufacturing equipment. Operates equipment safely to efficiently produce higher quality rolls of plastic film. Performs other duties as required to promote overall plant effectiveness in accordance with good manufacturing practices and all plant procedures and guidelines.

Requirements
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
  • Perform roll changes which includes removing full rolls from production line. Line up cores on empty shaft and take a sample of finished product to check film quality; replace shafts for new production; weigh and label rolls in ERP System and complete other paperwork as necessary; package and warehouse rolls. Perform all tasks safely and efficiently. Demonstrates ability to work on any line.
  • Monitor extrusion line and make adjustments as necessary to ensure a quality product, i.e. troubleshooting, Quality Windows, etc.
  • Prepare extrusion line for order change and perform all changes and set-ups.
  • Manage raw material flow via railcar, silos or boxes to supply the extrusion lines.
  • Collect and record machine operating conditions on log sheet.
  • Cut cores to predetermined length using core cutter.
  • Perform housekeeping duties during each shift to clean floor and work areas.
  • Clean die, rolls, filters and change screen packs
  • Operate forklift and other industrial material handling equipment to remove finished goods, scrap and/or raw materials and packaging supplies.

Tools/Equipment Used:
  • Various extrusion lines: cast embossed, high stock high density, reclaim, feed systems, core cutters, slitting equipment
  • Hand tools: Channel lock pliers, light hammer, open end wrench set, adjustable wrench, allen wrench set, screw driver set, utility knife, box cutter (razor blade/holder), tachometer, broom, shovel, gloves, miscellaneous measuring devices such as tape measures, etc.
  • Various lab testing equipment
  • Fork trucks, chain hoists, conveyors, scales, stretch wrap machine, material handling equipment (manual and powered)
  • Computers, calculators, pen/pencil, telephone

Education:
Education & Experience
High School diploma or GED required and 2 plus years of extrusion and/or manufacturing experience is preferred.

Physical Demands:
This position requires frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. The position requires frequent lifting, walks and stands for long periods of time, and performs strenuous physical labor under extreme temperatures. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
