Position Overview:
The Sleep Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will work closely with the President, Director of Patient Services, Director of Technical Services, Medical Director, and Director of Sleep Lab and Sleep Services to ensure high-quality care. The NP or PA will play a key role in ensuring that patients receive exceptional care and will foster a strong impression of the Sleep Medicine Clinic as a leader in patient care excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct patient evaluations, including reviewing medical histories, and physical examinations, to establish diagnoses.
  • Coordinate and provide patient care, ensuring timely, high-quality, and cost-effective treatment throughout the continuum of care.
  • Order, interpret, and perform laboratory and diagnostic tests within the NP or PA's qualifications.
  • Prescribe and administer both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including durable medical equipment, in accordance with state regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate personalized care plans to promote, maintain, and restore health, including ordering appropriate tests and devising treatment plans.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures within the scope of NP or PA practice.
  • Delegate clinical tasks to qualified administrative staff, including medical assistants.
  • Manage cases to ensure patients are routed for appropriate tests, prescribed necessary equipment, and receive timely follow-up. Utilize administrative support for record-keeping and patient tracking.
  • Identify and address the educational needs of patients, families, and staff, tailoring teaching strategies to individual backgrounds.
  • Serve as a patient advocate, coordinating care with other healthcare providers, durable medical equipment providers (DME), insurance companies, and community resources.
  • Maintain ethical standards in patient care, placing patient well-being above personal interests.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with licensed physicians for consultation or referral, ensuring compliance with all relevant medical protocols and screening methods.
  • Work closely with the Director of Sleep Lab and Sleep Services.
  • Evaluate new sleep patients and follow-up patients.
  • Manage CPAP and common sleep problems in collaboration with the Sleep Director.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines related to safety and infection control.
  • Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification.
  • Comply with Illinois Board of Nursing Standards of Conduct and HIPAA regulations.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate complex situations.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Be proficient in using computers and electronic health records.
  • Thrive in a diverse work environment and contribute effectively to the team.

Education and Experience:
  • Must hold an unrestricted RN and NP license, including prescribing privileges and DEA registration, or PA license.
  • National certification as an NP or PA from a recognized certifying body.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in sleep medicine preferred but not required.

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner (preferred).
  • Registered Nurse (preferred).
  • Physician Assistant (preferred).

Work Location:
In-person at Sleep / Internal Medicine Clinic in Libertyville, IL.
