Position Summary
The Coach Music Factory Licensed Security Officer (SLED) is responsible for ensuring the safety of artists, patrons, staff, and Peace Center property during all events, with primary assignment at the Coach Music Factory, a multi-level, standing-room live music venue (1,000 capacity).
This position requires active crowd management, ingress control, visible deterrence, and close coordination with venue operations and law enforcement. Officers operate strictly within South Carolina SLED licensure requirements and Peace Center Security Post Orders.
Security Officers are scheduled according to the event calendar and may be assigned campus-wide as needed but will need to be available for all Coach Music Factory events.
Role Positioning
Primary Function:
Security operations and crowd management in high-capacity, standing-room live music environments.
Secondary Function:
Provide security support across all Peace Center venues as assigned.
Essential Job Functions
Security & Ingress Control
- Act within the licensure limitations of SLED and the Peace Center Security Post Orders.
- Manage ingress control points using established security techniques and electronic screening devices.
- Screen for prohibited items including weapons and contraband.
- Maintain perimeter security and monitor access points before, during, and after events.
- Conduct post-event facility sweeps to ensure areas are vacated and secured.
Crowd Management & Venue Safety
- Monitor crowd density and movement in high-capacity, standing-room environments.
- Maintain clear aisles, egress routes, and ensure compliance with fire code and capacity limits.
- Control access to stage, backstage, loading docks, and restricted areas.
- Assist with traffic flow and crowd management campus-wide.
- Assist in removal of unruly, intoxicated, or disorderly individuals.
- Support Usher and Venue Operations teams in de-escalation of patron behavior issues.
- Make sound, timely decisions in loud, high-energy environments.
Collaboration & Incident Response
- Collaborate closely with Peace Center staff, venue leadership, production teams, and law enforcement.
- Coordinate with emergency services as required.
- Investigate and assist in resolving patron complaints; escalate to management when appropriate.
- Follow all standard operating procedures and City of Greenville policies.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately to management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess valid South Carolina SLED Security License (or willingness/ability to obtain)
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to engage respectfully with diverse populations.
- Ability to follow directions and exercise sound judgment.
- Proven ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Working knowledge of South Carolina Criminal Justice Codes.
- Working knowledge of crowd management principles (training provided).
- CPR/AED Certification (or willingness to obtain; training provided).
Preferred Experience:
- Previous law enforcement, licensed security, or event security experience.
- Experience in live music, club, or standing-room venues.
- Experience with electronic screening devices and controlled entry systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs short to medium distances.
- Ability to remain standing for extended periods.
- Ability to navigate multi-level facilities including swift ascent/descent of stairs.
- Ability to move through dense crowds safely and efficiently.
- Ability to communicate clearly via two-way radio.
- Requires outside work; may be exposed to inclement weather.
- Available to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
