School Security Officer
The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of School Security Officer. Major responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: serving as the responsible person in school buildings to provide for the safety and welfare of students and school personnel, actively assisting in supervising general department in corridors, lunchrooms, restrooms and school grounds during the hours in which schools are in session, maintaining decorum and order on school grounds and in the vicinity of schools and at school events, carrying out administrative procedures necessary in maintaining safety and welfare including liaison with public safety officials and school officials, monitoring the buildings at all times, including the monitoring of lavatories periodically during the day, complying with the strict regulation against sitting down and socializing, responding promptly to the signal for calling the School Security Officer, assuming the authority of special officer of the City of Camden during those hours and/or at such events when actually working and on duty carrying out the responsibilities of an employee of the District, maintaining record of incidents, presenting written descriptive reports for major incidents, supporting projects and initiatives in other divisions and departments throughout CCSD on an as-needed basis, and performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Supervisor's designee.

Frequently bends and twists holding items weighing up to 50 pounds. Climbing/balancing maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. Stooping bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Crouching bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Reaching extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Possible exposure to a range of childhood and adult illnesses. Subject to extreme temperatures (temperatures below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour, which may be exacerbated by wind and/or humidity). Subject to atmospheric conditions including fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. Moderate to high at times, noise level especially during school hours, assemblies or events. Frequent interruptions from calls, walk-ins and urgent requests. Possible exposure to cleaning agents, instructional materials, and equipment-related chemicals.
Reports to Senior Director, Security. Evaluated by Senior Director, Security. Employment Period Ten months, non-tenurable position. Union Affiliation CEA. Minimum Starting Salary: $27,256.00. Maximum Starting Salary: $48,968.00. Residency Requirement Under New Jersey's "New Jersey First Act" (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7), all employees of New Jersey public school districts must maintain bona fide New Jersey residency as a condition of employment. Candidates must already reside in New Jersey or establish residency within the required timeframe after hire. Current employees who were hired on or before September 1, 2011 are exempt from this requirement and may continue to reside outside the state. In limited circumstances, applicants may request a residency waiver through the state's Employee Residency Review Committee if they can demonstrate critical need or hardship; approval is not guaranteed.
