Job Goal
Responsible for student and faculty support of simulation activities in nursing and health programs.
SALARY RANGE: $48,315.02 - $61,258.95 (for two terms): the maximum salary is based on a doctorate education level and 5 years of verifiable full-time teaching experience at the college level.
DUTY DAYS: 162 days (2 semesters) (82 days Term I and 80 days Term II)
This position will be filled for the 2026-2027 academic school year through May 6, 2027. Salary is determined based on number of duty days worked, years of experience, and level of education. The salary for faculty hired after the beginning of the contract period will be prorated based on the total number of duty days worked. Salary will be determined at hire date.
*This position is normally two terms (82 days Term I and 80 days Term II) position. It will return to two terms (162 duty days) position for the 2026-2027 academic school year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These requirements are a representation of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as an exhaustive list of specific duties and responsibilities. Management may direct employees to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
  1. Supports and serves as a resource for faculty and students in simulation experiences to create a realistic learning environment.
  2. Implements clinical simulation to meet accreditation and Board of Nursing standards.
  3. Uses data to evaluate student learning and satisfaction with simulation scenarios.
  4. Updates and refines simulation experiences based on identified needs and evaluation data.
  5. Serves as a resource for faculty and students in classroom/lab activities.
  6. Orients instructors in lab procedures, operation of equipment, and use of instructional materials.
  7. Oversees simulation lab information and technology support, including ensuring functionality of equipment and development of equipment replacement plan.
  8. Models professional standards, including customer service, collaboration, communication, and excellence.
  9. Performs remediation with students in skills laboratories.
  10. Coordinates with Clinical Coordinator/Faculty to schedule simulation experiences as needed.
  11. Collaborates with Lab facilitators to ensure labs are equipped and prepared for simulation experiences.
  12. Participates in simulation events and scenarios as appropriate.
  13. Any other duties as may be appropriately assigned or required.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Current, unrestricted State of Florida RN license
  • 2 years recent clinical experience
  • Satisfactory level II criminal history background check
  • Current American Heart Association "Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers" CPR certification, negative PPD or chest X-ray and updated immunizations required
  • Negative drug and alcohol screens are required when selected for position

Qualifying Field:

Instructors engaged in clinical and laboratory components must be under the supervision of faculty who possess a Master's Degree in Nursing. Instructors engaged in clinical and laboratory components must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and a current, unrestricted Florida Registered Nurse license, and three years of recent clinical experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Ability to prepare and organize simulation laboratory and equipment.
  • Ability to understand and utilize advanced technical simulation lab equipment.
  • Ability to communicate simulation knowledge to others as appropriate.
  • Ability to anticipate and effectively adapt to changes in program requirements.
  • Knowledge of current educational pedagogy to enhance simulation outcomes.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Knowledge of various levels of simulation fidelity.
  • Knowledge of International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Standards of Best Practice.
  • Ability to work occasional evening hours, split schedule.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of one year of experience in simulation and skills lab teaching, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator preferred
