Job description

Salary:

Position Overview:

The Estimator supports the estimating team by assisting with quantity takeoffs, pricing analysis, bid preparation, and estimate documentation for commercial electrical projects. This role is developmental by design. The position works under the direct guidance of the Senior Estimator. The focus is learning SCE estimating standards, tools, workflows, and expectations while contributing meaningful production support to active bids. This role does not carry final bid authority. Accuracy, organization, follow-through, and growth mindset are critical to success.


Key Responsibilities:

Estimating Support and Takeoffs

  • Assist with review of drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs under direction using Accubid, LiveCount, and Bluebeam.
  • Support development of scopes of work, inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions.
  • Prepare draft estimate components for senior estimator review.
  • Assist with bid form completion and proposal assembly.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings or walkthroughs when requested.

Cost and Pricing Assistance

  • Request vendor pricing and track quote coverage.
  • Input vendor pricing into estimating systems as directed.
  • Apply standard labor units provided by senior estimators.
  • Reference historical cost data to support estimate validation.
  • Flag scope gaps, unclear details, or pricing concerns for escalation.
  • Maintain organized estimate backup and audit trails.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Coordinate daily with senior estimators on assigned bids.
  • Provide clear status updates on takeoffs, pricing, and assigned tasks.
  • Support project turnover preparation by organizing estimate documentation.
  • Learn handoff expectations between estimating, project management, and field teams.

Process Support and Development

  • Maintain clean, organized estimate files for future reference.
  • Follow established estimating standards and workflows.
  • Assist with data entry for win-loss tracking and estimate performance review.
  • Participate in internal estimating improvement efforts as requested.
  • Actively pursue skill development in estimating tools and best practices.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-3 years of experience in electrical construction, estimating support, or related field.
  • Proficient with Accubid, LiveCount, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to read construction documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in English.
  • Possess a valid State of Florida Driver's License.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Construction Management, Electrical Technology, or related field.
  • Field experience in commercial electrical work.
  • Exposure to NECA labor units or estimating databases.
  • Experience assisting with commercial bids.
  • Bilingual Spanish capability.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • Occasional site visits may require climbing, walking, or standing for extended periods in active construction environments.
  • Manual dexterity required for standard office equipment use.


Signing Bonus Information:

Service Complete Electric may offer a signing bonus of up to $15,000 for qualified candidates in recognition of the critical nature of these roles. Signing bonuses are not standard compensation and are available only to new external hires with prior written approval. Signing bonuses are not guaranteed, are discretionary, and are subject to change.

Approved signing bonuses are paid in installments over the employees first year of continuous employment and require the employee to be actively employed at the time each installment is paid. Final terms, if approved, are governed by the offer letter, which will outline the specific amount, payment schedule, and any repayment obligations if employment ends before one year.

Signing bonuses are processed through payroll and are subject to applicable taxes and withholdings. Subject to executive approval.

All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background screening and pre-employment drug test.
