Job description

Job Title: Building Maintenance Clerk
Starting rate of pay: $17.00/hr
JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the Building Maintenance Clerk involves performing a variety of general maintenance and repair work duties for the Company's stores and office buildings. Works under the immediate supervision of the Lead Building Maintenance Manager.
DUTIES
  1. Major

1. Clean and oils, check out conveyors (where applicable), hand trucks, flatbed trucks, roller conveyors, compactors, air conditioners, cooler and freezer blower fans.
2. Steam cleans carts, trucks, and equipment for the Meat Department.
3. Repairs shopping carts- replace wheels, plastic seats, etc.
4. Replaces bulbs in sales and warehouse areas; lunchroom, outside fixtures; changes ballast.
5. Replaces air conditioner filters every three months.
6. Performs minor plumbing repairs-toilet, hand basin, slop sinks, meat/produce and grocery sinks.
7. Performs minor painting repairs- lunchroom, restrooms, warehouse area, check counter, parking lines, curbing, cart stations, exterior building.
8. Performs minor floor repair such as laying tiles and carpet in sales area, lunchroom, restroom and office.
9. Performs minor carpentry-building shelves, bookcases, etc.
10. Check and cleans gutters; checks and removes rubbish from roof tops.
11. Maintains and repairs vendor delivery signs, shopping cart station signs, and tow away signs.
12. Refills propane gas container tanks and delivers refills to all stores weekly or as needed.

2. Travels to different locations including the neighbor island stores to do periodic maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITY & AUTHORITY
  1. Responsibility to Equipment

  1. Responsible for the proper handling and maintenance of all the equipment and tools used. Reports any malfunctioning or broken equipment to the Building Maintenance Manager for repair and servicing.

  1. May perform light preventive maintenance on machines as needed.

  1. Replaces tools and equipment back into their proper locations after use.

  1. Responsibility to Times

  1. Maintains a friendly and polite disposition at all times.
  2. Operates all Company vehicles in a safe manner.

  1. Responsibility to Others

  1. Ensures that all work is performed in a safe manner and in accordance with established guidelines to prevent injury to self and others. Reports any hazardous conditions.

  1. Picks up or removes any objects or conditions which may create a hazard or danger to others.

  1. Reports major hazards to the Store Management Staff.

  1. Authority

  1. No supervisory authority. Position is limited to assisting others.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  1. Education

1. No educational requirements are needed. Must be of legal age to operate machinery.
2. Must be able to follow instructions.
  1. Experience

1. Previous general utility/maintenance experience is helpful including the use of the various types of equipment and materials.

1. Plans out daily responsibilities and routines to complete all of the duties within reasonable time requirements.

1. Work consists of physical work and effort. Considerable walking is required. Must maintain a neat appearance.

1. Often works alone and must be able to complete assigned tasks without constant supervision. Responsible for immediately cleaning up or removing hazardous conditions.

  1. In general working conditions are favorable. Will be exposed to dust, cleaning fluids, vapors and other chemicals.

  1. Various temperature change, chill and freezer, as well as heat during summer months. Working outdoors; exterior.

1. Full-Time employees- forty (40) hours per week.
2. Part-Time employees- twenty (20) to twenty-five (25) hours per week.
