Job description

TRUCK DRIVER JOB DESCRIPTION
LOCATION: Doman Tucker Lumber
JOB TITLE: Tractor Trailer Truck Driver
PRIMARY FUNCTION
To operate over-the-road tractor trailer to deliver finished goods to customers, to pick up raw lumber from suppliers to deliver chips for processing, and to move lumber inter*company from treating plant to shipping yard
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Comprehend and act upon oral and written instructions from the supervisor.
  2. Must possess good communication skills, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with customers and suppliers.
  3. Assists and expedites loading of trailer by laying headers for shipping/forklift personnel, tying down and securing load, and switching trailers.
  4. Operates semi-truck to transport load over required route to proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  5. Obtain shipping bills of lading and necessary signatures and returns completed paperwork and related records to shipping office
  6. Records and maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations.
  7. Responsible for visual inspection of truck and equipment and for preventive maintenance such as checking fuel and other fluids, air in tires, etc., reporting any maintenance problems to shop supervisor and ensuring that scheduled maintenance is performed on time.
  8. Report any violation received either in company or private vehicle to Personnel or Traffic Manager.
  9. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of truck inside and outside.
