What is a shoe designer?

A shoe designer works in the fashion industry designing footwear. Job duties include developing shoe concepts, creating prototypes, and testing designs. Shoe designs are typically created as hand drawings first; however, some designers may use computer software. Shoe designers who work for a larger company must present their ideas to management for approval.

What does a shoe designer do?

A shoe designer is responsible for creating the concepts, sketches, and prototypes for new footwear designs. They research trends, select materials, and work closely with manufacturers to bring their ideas to life. Shoe designers combine creativity with technical knowledge to make shoes that are both stylish and functional. Their work involves understanding both fashion aesthetics and the practical needs of different types of footwear.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a shoe designer, and why are they important?

A successful Shoe Designer needs a solid background in fashion design, strong drawing skills, and a portfolio demonstrating creativity and technical proficiency, often supported by a degree in design or a related field. Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Illustrator, CAD tools, and knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes is important. Creativity, attention to detail, and trend awareness are essential soft skills that help designers innovate and meet consumer demands. These skills and qualities are crucial for creating appealing, functional footwear that stands out in a competitive market.

What are some common challenges faced by shoe designers during the product development process?

Shoe designers often encounter challenges balancing creativity with functionality, such as ensuring their designs are both visually appealing and comfortable to wear. Additionally, working within material and manufacturing constraints while keeping up with rapidly changing fashion trends can be demanding. Collaboration with production teams, marketers, and suppliers is crucial to address technical limitations and cost considerations, making effective communication an essential skill. These challenges make the role dynamic and rewarding for those who enjoy problem-solving and teamwork.

Description:

Welcome members. Anticipate their needs. Take pride in every detail.

Cherokee Town & Country Club, one of the nation’s premier private clubs, is seeking a Full-Time Men's Locker Room Attendant to join our Family, Swim & Fitness team.

This role is about much more than maintaining a clean locker room. You'll be part of the member experience—greeting members and guests, providing personalized services, and ensuring the Men's Locker Room is always welcoming, polished, well-stocked, and ready for their arrival.

If you're friendly, professional, attentive, and take pride in creating an exceptional environment for others, we'd love to meet you.

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT

Hospitality Comes First — Build relationships with members and guests while providing warm, attentive, and personalized service.

Take Pride in the Details — Maintain the cleanliness, organization, presentation, and supplies that contribute to an exceptional locker room experience.

Provide Personalized Service — Assist members with services including laundry, shoe-shining, and food and beverage service.

Full-Time Benefits —  $15.50/hour, negotiable based on experience, plus comprehensive benefits and valuable Club perks.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Greet members and guests with a warm, friendly, and professional welcome.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of the Men's Locker Room.
  • Keep towels, toiletries, amenities, and other locker room supplies fully stocked and in working order.
  • Provide member services including laundry and shoe-shining.
  • Assist with food and beverage service for members using the locker room.
  • Complete general housekeeping, cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing duties.
  • Perform opening and closing responsibilities based on the assigned shift.
  • Listen and respond to member needs with a genuine desire to provide exceptional service.
  • Assist with additional housekeeping and Club needs as assigned.
  • Work independently while also supporting the larger team to maintain Cherokee's service standards.
Requirements:

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A friendly, hospitable, and service-oriented personality.
  • Professional appearance and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • General housekeeping skills and experience.
  • Fitness or locker room housekeeping experience preferred.
  • Previous private club or similar hospitality experience preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred or ability to become certified.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds

YOUR FULL-TIME BENEFITS & PERKS

Cherokee offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, well-being, and future, including:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
  • 401(k) with employer match up to 5%
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Holiday bonus
  • Employer-sponsored scholarship opportunities
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Wellness programs and incentives
  • Growth and development opportunities
  • Employee recognition and appreciation events
  • MARTA commuter discount
  • Free meals while on duty
  • Free parking
  • Uniform provided, based on department and position
  • Free employee golf on most Mondays

THE CHEROKEE DIFFERENCE

Chartered in 1956, Cherokee Town & Country Club is recognized as one of America's premier private clubs, with locations in Buckhead and Sandy Springs.

We're in the happiness business, and sometimes it's the smallest details that make the biggest difference—a warm greeting, a freshly stocked locker room, polished shoes, or simply remembering what a member needs before they have to ask.

Guided by the Cherokee Standard, we value team members who bring a “What can I do? How can I help?” attitude and take genuine pride in caring for our members and their surroundings.

If you're someone who notices the details, enjoys taking care of people, and believes exceptional service should feel personal, we want to meet you.

Apply today and become part of the member experience at Cherokee Town & Country Club.
