NSC Staffing has a current opening for an experienced Marine Electrician Superintendent to support shipyard operations in San Diego, California. This senior leadership role requires extensive marine electrical experience and proven supervisory capability within shipyard or maritime environments. The Marine Electrician Superintendent will lead electrical production teams, ensure adherence to schedules and budgets, and drive quality and efficiency across all assigned work scopes.
Position Overview
The Marine Electrician Superintendent is responsible for overseeing electrical production operations, managing supervisors and electricians, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with contract requirements, NAVSEA standards, and safety regulations. This position serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in marine electrical systems and provides leadership, technical guidance, and operational oversight throughout shipboard repair and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Personnel Management
  • Manage assigned electrical personnel, including two or more Supervisors.
  • Provide leadership, training, mentoring, and performance oversight to enhance productivity and work quality.
  • Conduct interviews, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy.
  • Resolve personnel and production conflicts to maintain operational efficiency.
Production, Scheduling & Cost Control
  • Ensure electrical work is executed in alignment with project schedules and production goals.
  • Track and manage budgetary impacts, including manpower allocation and material ordering.
  • Attend production and progress meetings with customers, providing accurate and timely work status updates.
  • Serve as the departmental representative at required QA checkpoints.
Technical Oversight & Compliance
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for marine electrical repairs and shipboard systems.
  • Perform expert?level troubleshooting of shipboard electrical systems and components.
  • Read, interpret, and execute work based on specifications, technical manuals, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Perform work in accordance with approved Process Control Procedures (PCPs).
  • Ensure compliance with NAVSEA Standard Items, OSHA standards, and shipyard safety procedures.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Accurately prepare Condition Found Reports (CFRs) documenting inspection results, discrepancies, and repair recommendations.
  • Complete required reporting, including schedule updates and Test and Inspection Plan (TIP) documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely departmental records.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the electrical department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support shipyard and project objectives.

Job Requirements & Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the marine and/or shipyard industry.
  • Expert?level knowledge of marine electrical repair procedures and shipboard systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including management and conflict resolution.
  • Working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items and OSHA regulations.
  • General computer proficiency with strong skills in Microsoft Office applications.

  • This position may require access to U.S. government or military facilities.
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain base access clearance, including:
    • Passing a background check
    • Possession of valid government?issued identification
    • REAL ID?compliant ID or valid U.S. passport

Work Environment
  • Shipyard and shipboard environments with exposure to confined spaces, ladders, machinery, and varying weather conditions.
  • Required use of PPE, including hardhat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and other protective equipment as applicable.
