Job description


Scope:

This role will support both our customer service and warehouse teams and will be an integral part of our shipping staff.

General Summary:

Under the direction of Shipping Manager, this position coordinates all outbound shipping for LTL, Freight and non-LTL orders in order to meet customer delivery requirements.

Typical work activities:

The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Schedule shipments and manage the outbound shipping schedule
  • Work with carrier partners and internal team members to understand urgency of the freight, resolve issues and ensure top tier service and performance.
  • Seeks out rate quotes with shipping vendors and logistics companies to procure the best service and price possible.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating all shipping records.
  • Prepares documents, such as, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
  • Collaborates with Customer Service team and supervisors to ensure coordination of special shipments and rush orders.
  • Contact common carriers and schedule pick-ups, ensuring the meeting of customer delivery requirements.
  • Track inventory and report any shortages to Customer Service for further disposition
  • Completes shipper’s declared HAZ-MAT paperwork on line.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork shipping documents and labels corresponding to shipping needs
  • Document and handle claim process for product damaged during shipping. Track and report on all shipping claims.
  • Notify customers when product is ready and assist with tracking their shipments, and/or when they pick up orders.
  • Assist truck drivers with their required paperwork.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and update supplies as needed
  • All other assigned duties directed by the Shipping Manager


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have strong, general computer skills and be able to work with vendors on line and use their custom shipping software.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma and experience working in a warehouse and/or shipping environment.
  • This candidate is a self-driven, high energy person with excellent communication and customer service skills, and has the ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
