Job description

Kamatics is seeking a Facilities Group Leader (2nd shift) to oversee all campus facilities and ensure continuous operation. This role is responsible for ensuring facility staff, contractors, and vendors perform essential duties while meeting internal, external, safety, and quality requirements. The Facilities Group Leader establishes expectations and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure performance, leads by example, and fosters a work environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration. This position works under the direction of the Facilities Manager with minimal supervision.

2nd Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday 1:00 pm-11:00pm. Availability to work off-shift hours, including Saturdays, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as business needs require.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates and oversees the daily activities of facility support personnel, including contracted janitorial staff and the Night Shift Leader, to ensure campus operations run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for contracted service providers, including janitorial, groundskeeping, snow removal, and facility maintenance vendors. Ensures work is completed safely, on time, and in accordance with company standards.
  • Maintains a hands-on presence throughout the campus and assists with facility upkeep, cleaning activities, equipment moves, snow removal, and general facility support as needed.
  • Manages all janitorial activities, including daily cleaning requirements and updating specifications as needed for preventive maintenance work.
  • Manages facility contractors, including but not limited to lawn care, grounds repairs, and facility upgrades.
  • Oversees snow removal contractors and maintains a hands-on approach to snow clearing and salting activities. Monitors weather conditions, including overnight hours, and assists with snow removal as needed using shovels and company-owned equipment.
  • Monitors boilers, chillers, and generators to ensure reliable operation and timely response to issues.
  • Coordinates the movement of shop equipment and tooling in partnership with Production Leadership.
  • Coordinates employee relocations and office moves throughout the campus. Arranges movers as needed, prepares workspaces, and coordinates with Corporate IT regarding network and equipment needs.
  • Prioritizes and schedules work assignments, utilizing available resources efficiently to maximize productivity. Monitors work quality, budget adherence, and completion of assigned projects.
  • Assists with performance evaluations, goal setting, and budget planning.
  • Performs facility repairs as needed, estimates labor and material costs, obtains quotes, and orders repair parts and materials. Maintains spare parts inventory and replenishes stock as required.
  • Performs regular inspections of company-owned warehouses and maintains organized storage areas. Coordinates disposal, sale, or relocation of materials as needed.
  • Participates in and leads continuous improvement initiatives that support company goals and operational excellence.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with employees, departments, contractors, vendors, and company subsidiaries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and supports cross-training efforts to enhance team flexibility and effectiveness.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development through industry training, certifications, or seminars.

EDUCATION

  • High School or GED equivalent required
  • 2 year AS degree or equivalent preferred


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid driver's license required; ability to operate company vehicles on and off campus as needed.
  • Ability to walk extensively throughout the facility and campus on a daily basis.
  • Availability to work off-shift hours, including Saturdays, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as business needs require.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations outside of normal business hours when necessary.
  • Interplant and occasional domestic travel may be required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are preferred.
