Job description

Shell Bay, located in Hallandale, FL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Manager of Horticulture & Landscape Presentation! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you'll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.
Reporting directly to Garrett Boddington, Director of Agronomy & Grounds, this newly created full-time salaried leadership position will work closely alongside our Landscape Manager, Pedro, with one clear objective:
To elevate every aspect of our landscape presentation to an uncompromising world-class standard.
As Shell Bay prepares for the opening of our luxury hotel, private residences, marina, and additional amenities, the importance of our landscape has never been greater. Every arrival, every pathway, every garden, every specimen tree, every waterfront view, and every outdoor space contributes to the experience our members and guests expect.
Originally designed by Nievera Williams Landscape Design, our landscape is one of the defining features of Shell Bay. Your role will be to preserve that vision while continually refining and enhancing the presentation of the property as it matures, ensuring it remains one of the finest examples of luxury landscape design in the country.
Our Philosophy
At Shell Bay, we believe landscape is far more than maintenance.
It is one of the first and last impressions our members and guests experience every day.
Every hedge, flower bed, lawn edge, specimen tree, palm, pathway, and garden contributes to the luxury experience that defines our club.
We are looking for someone who views horticulture as both a science and an art-someone who notices the smallest details, believes excellence is achieved through consistency, and takes personal pride in creating extraordinary outdoor environments.
This is not a position for someone who manages from behind a desk.
We are seeking a hands-on leader who enjoys working alongside the team every day, coaching by example, continually improving standards, and ensuring every inch of the property reflects the quality expected of one of the world's premier private clubs.
Position Summary
Working as part of Garrett Boddington's Agronomy & Grounds leadership team, you will collaborate closely with Pedro and the landscape staff to preserve, maintain, and continually enhance every landscaped area throughout Shell Bay Club.
This role combines horticultural expertise, leadership, craftsmanship, creativity, and attention to detail. Success will be measured not only by the health of the landscape but by the daily presentation of the property, the development of the landscape team, and the overall experience delivered to our members and guests.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Report directly to the Director of Agronomy & Grounds.
  2. Work collaboratively with Pedro and the landscape team to continually elevate the presentation of the property.
  3. Preserve and enhance the original Nievera Williams Landscape Design vision.
  4. Serve as a steward of the club's horticultural standards while ensuring long-term consistency with the original landscape philosophy.
  5. Lead by example through a hands-on approach to daily landscape operations.
  6. Maintain exceptional horticultural standards throughout the property.
  7. Monitor plant health, irrigation performance, soil conditions, fertilization programs, and integrated pest management.
  8. Develop seasonal planting programs, colour displays, and enhancement projects.
  9. Oversee pruning, shaping, edging, mulching, and presentation standards across the property.
  10. Identify opportunities for continual improvement while maintaining consistency with the club's luxury aesthetic.
  11. Assist in maintaining relationships with Nievera Williams Landscape Design and other specialist consultants to ensure future landscape enhancements remain aligned with the original vision.
  12. Mentor, train, and develop members of the landscape team.
  13. Assist with scheduling, labour planning, and workflow management.
  14. Maintain accurate records relating to landscape maintenance, irrigation, fertilization, and enhancement projects.
  15. Collaborate with Agronomy, Engineering, Housekeeping, Golf Operations, Marina Operations, Racquets, and Club Operations to ensure exceptional presentation throughout the property.
  16. Assist in planning and executing future landscape enhancement projects.

  2. Championship golf course landscape
  3. Luxury hotel grounds
  4. Private residences
  5. Marina and waterfront landscape
  6. Racquet sports complex
  7. Performance Center
  8. Walking paths and common areas
  9. Seasonal floral displays
  10. Signature gardens
  11. Future landscape enhancement projects

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
  1. Extensive experience in luxury horticulture, landscape management, botanical gardens, luxury resorts, five-star hotels, private estates, or premier private clubs.
  2. Strong knowledge of tropical and subtropical plant material.
  3. Expertise in irrigation systems, plant nutrition, soil health, and integrated plant health management.
  4. Experience leading and developing landscape teams.
  5. Outstanding organisational and communication skills.
  6. Exceptional attention to detail.
  7. A proactive, positive, and hands-on leadership style.
  8. A passion for continually improving an already exceptional property.

    5. Plant health, irrigation performance, and overall property presentation
