Job Description:
JSL Technologies, Inc. is seeking qualified Shelf-Life/Disposal Specialists to support warehouse operations at the Navy Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC), Cheatham Annex. This is a contingent hire, pending contract award. The incumbent will perform shelf-life management operations including extending shelf-life expiration dates, identifying stock discrepancies, managing expired material, and supporting disposal operations for excess, expired, and unserviceable material.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:
  • Experience in shelf-life management including:
    • General supply activities
    • Receiving
    • Inventory management
    • Warehousing
    • Operation of various types of material handling equipment

Required Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of shelf-life material management for various material types including:
    • Pharmaceuticals
    • Medical surgical consumables
    • Industrial hazmat
    • Collective protection material
    • Narcotics
    • Cold chain material
  • Knowledge of disposal operations including identification of obsolete/excess/expired material
  • Knowledge of proper disposal methods through Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services (DLADS), reverse distributors, local destruction, incineration, HAZWASTE disposal, and disposal of Information Technology (IT) material

Technical Proficiency:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to use DMLSS (Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support), HIMS, or other authorized database of record for routine processes

Required Skills and Certifications:
  • Valid U.S. driver's license to drive stand-up and 4-6K forklifts

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Ability to pass background investigation
  • Must complete required DoD/BUMED IT security training

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Shelf-Life Management:
  • Perform weekly/monthly analysis and verification of shelf-life material
  • Extend shelf-life expiration dates in accordance with published standards
  • Identify stock discrepancies, improperly coded items, and expired material
  • Ensure proper procedures are being used for testing/extending of material
  • Identify improper stowage and labeling
  • Check for broken or damaged stock in locations
  • Conduct reviews of shelf-life maintenance procedures and report stock discrepancies to ensure that designated entities maintain 100% stock levels of valid requisitioned medical/non-medical stock

Disposal Operations:
  • Provide support in the turn-in of unserviceable shelf-life material
  • Review disposal and turn-in documentation
  • Verify correct material and quantities prior to disposal or turn-in to DLA Disposition Services

Quality Control & Documentation:
  • Perform reviews of shelf-life transaction records to ensure that all documents have been completed correctly
  • Ensure all applicable databases are updated correctly
  • Research medical alert and recall messages regarding shelf-life material utilizing DMLSS or other military database of record
  • Coordinate affected products/recalls with the government and all affected work centers

Procurement Support:
  • Work with NMRLC Supply Division or other supporting entities to execute and track procurement of shelf-life material

Inventory & Warehouse Operations:
  • Perform re-warehousing of material in accordance with Government stow plans
  • Perform inventory control work, supporting a broad range of duties required to accomplish the mission of a large production, sustainment, and distribution center
  • Count types, quantities, and condition of items during annual inventories, location surveys, and physical inventory
  • Perform material handling, material examining and identifying
  • Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
  • Analyze, evaluate, and revise command inventory

Packing Operations:
  • Perform Pick, Pack, Preserve, and Crate (PPP&C)
  • Pack and repack a variety of items for kitting and shipping of EXMEDS, utilizing a wide variety of standard packing materials, methods, and techniques

Administrative Duties:
  • Perform word processing, data entry, and electronic mail transmission
  • Store, retrieve, and maintain electronic documents/files
  • Enter data into predefined spreadsheets or databases

Required Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply reference materials such as regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, and orders
  • Ability to read and speak the English language with correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format
  • Proficiency in US standard office equipment (computers, copiers, fax machines, telephone systems)
  • Strong ethical principles and customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements
  • Light to moderate physical effort required
  • Walking, standing, reaching, bending, and moving items
  • Lifting and carrying items over 45 lbs
  • Work is performed on hard surfaces

Applicants must have an active security clearance and/or the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
