Job description

Position Summary

This position is accountable for establishing, implementing, and administering the overall policies, goals and strategy for the information technology department throughout the organization.  The Director of IT is responsible for analyzing the needs of different departments and determining ways to meet business objectives by modifying existing or developing new information processing systems.  Additional duties include leading the staff, managing vendors, budget control, application maintenance and system maintenance for the company's infrastructure.

Core Responsibilities

Responsibilities described in this section are fundamental to success in this position.

  • Oversees and directs the day-to-day operations of the infrastructure including data center, server, network, storage, software and telecommunications.
  • Leads the overall cyber security and security administration of all systems within the infrastructure. This includes ensuring each vendor, MSP and SAS has all security requirements in place.
  • Manage and monitor the wireless network, trend, and provide forecasting for future changes and/orgrowth. Requires strategic thinking in planning for changes in the automotive industry.
  • Develop departmental operating plans to carry out the technology vision and leverage digital best practices across the organization.
  • Align IT operational processes with business needs. This includes evaluating software and applications to ensure we are meeting the needs at competitive pricing.
  • Execute project management oversight by overseeing multiple projects in various departments.
  • Build and manage a team of developers to build out applications and financial reporting using SQL, power BI, Tableau, and other output software.
  • Ensure IT team members are positioned for success by providing guidance and championing performance and development opportunities.
  • Demonstrate expert technical proficiency by providing high-level guidance to internal customers and team members.
  • Ensure the consistency and maintainability of existing applications and other work products by creating and maintaining standards/procedures for implementing solutions.
  • Ensure budgets, resources, and schedules meet leadership requirements and milestones.
  • Ensure all company assets are tracked by the management system and develop plans for replacement of equipment as necessary to ensure the business continues to run efficiently.
  • Demonstrate negotiation skills aimed at providing the best outcome for the business.
  • Collaborate with internal managers and leadership to establish strategic plans and meet deadlines.
  • Provide oversight of outsourced business relationships with suppliers, outsourced partners, and vendors to ensure organizational goals and needs are met.
  • Participate and support talent succession planning to include identifying bench strength and development plans.
  • Develop, manage, and track the IT department's annual budget.
  • Manages and maintains relationships with IT vendors.
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Uses personal device to provide an additional layer of security for company network and site access through multi-factor authentication.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are the minimum degrees, certifications, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required of this position.

  • 10+ years of experience leading a team of IT professionals.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic and tactical IT Infrastructure experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Certifications in networking, development or cybersecurity preferred.
  • Valid driver's license without restrictions that affects your ability to operate company owned vehicle(s) and ability to maintain a clean driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of business systems; CRM,Microsoft Windows Server system administration, including Active Directory, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008, Windows 2012 Microsoft Exchange Server system administration, VMware, VDI, and vSphere in medium to large sized businesses.
  • Experience installing/configuring servers, back-up servers, printers, and domain controllers.
  • Knowledge of CDK DMS is considered a plus.
  • Experience analyzing data to draw business relevant conclusions.
