Job description

We are seeking an experienced Onshore Business Analyst with strong Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) expertise to serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, marketing teams, and technical delivery teams. This role is responsible for gathering requirements, documenting user stories, designing scalable marketing journey solutions, and ensuring alignment between business objectives and SFMC platform capabilities.
The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, deep working knowledge of SFMC modules, exceptional communication abilities, and experience supporting enterprise-level marketing and customer engagement programs.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering
  • Engage with Marketing, CRM, Product, and Data teams to understand business goals and translate them into functional requirements.
  • Conduct workshops, discovery sessions, and stakeholder interviews.
  • Document detailed business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows.
  • Ensure requirements align with SFMC capabilities, data models, segmentation rules, and compliance standards.

Solution Design & SFMC Expertise
  • Design end-to-end solutions for marketing journeys, personalization logic, automation workflows, and cross-channel communication.
  • Translate business needs into SFMC functional designs, including:
    • Journey Builder architecture
    • Data Extension layouts and data mappings
    • AMPScript use cases
    • Audience segmentation strategies
    • Automation Studio workflows
  • Partner with SFMC Architects and Developers to review technical feasibility.

Platform & Data Analysis
  • Analyze customer data, segmentation logic, and integration points across CRM, CDP, and external systems.
  • Validate data availability, quality, and readiness for campaign execution.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for data issues or journey defects.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with onshore and offshore teams including Marketing, Developers, QA, and Analytics.
  • Support development handoffs, sprint planning, and grooming sessions.
  • Partner with QA teams to ensure test coverage aligns with requirements.
  • Lead UAT coordination, tracking, communication, and final signoffs.

Documentation & Governance
  • Maintain high-quality documentation including:
    • BRDs / FRDs
    • User stories and acceptance criteria
    • Customer journey maps
    • Data flow diagrams
    • Release notes
  • Ensure platform usage complies with internal standards, brand guidelines, and regulatory requirements (CAN-SPAM, GDPR/CCPA).

Optimization & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to optimize journey design, data models, and marketing technology processes.
  • Provide insights on best practices, new SFMC features, and process improvements.
  • Support roadmap planning and prioritization activities.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Business Analyst experience, with 3+ years focused on Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Hands-on experience with major SFMC modules:
    • Journey Builder
    • Automation Studio
    • Email Studio
    • Mobile Studio (SMS/push)
    • Contact Builder / Data Extensions
  • Strong understanding of marketing operations, customer segmentation, and digital engagement strategies.
  • Ability to read/write SQL for data validation and segmentation analysis.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Salesforce certifications:
    • SFMC Email Specialist
    • SFMC Administrator
    • Marketing Cloud Consultant
  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., Pharma, Finance, Insurance).
  • Familiarity with CDPs, CRM platforms (Salesforce Sales/Service Cloud), and API integration concepts.
